Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando

I'm sure there is a thread for this already but I couldn't find it. Never played the first and finally got around to renting the second. Should I be buying everything in order or should I always buy the best I can afford? I'm on the second planet (with the slot machines) and have enough cash for a sniper rifle or for an extra 5K an automated turret gun, what should I buy?

The sniper rifle is one of the best weapons you can get.

Those turret guns come in handy, you can throw them into an area and let 'em blast away while you remain relatively safe. The sniper rifle is deadly, but there aren't as many places where it's really useful. At least for the way I play.

I suppose I can keep fighting in the arena for a while, try and get both.

I get a lot more use out of the turrets than I do the sniper rifle (especially now that my turrets are upgraded). They work best for me in the arenas, on either groups of enemies or bosses.

The sniper rifle is alright, but there arent a lot of situations where its absolutely critical you have it.

There are some weapons you can safely skip; like I still dont have the Lava Gun. No real need. Eventually I'll want to have everything upgraded, but thats just me.

I got them both and have found them very useful on the planet with the shopping area. The turrets for the groups and my upgraded sniper rifle for those big ship things. Whats the point of the shitty electric claw thing I bought, it pretty much sucks all around, am I using it wrong?

Electric claw? Trying to picture that one...

I got it from a lady vendor on the first planet with a race track. She was selling a bomb glove, a decoy glove and a shitty electricity glove. It's a big claw looking thing on my arm and shoots a continuous electric stream out that's weak as hell.

Those sound like the weapons from the first game. If you had a save on your mem card from the original R&C you got all the first game's weapons for free, so I never bought it in the second game...

Yeah, there was some message like that, I had a few to many beers in me and decided to buy them all. Guess I just spent a bunch of money on some suck weapons.

Hehe, yeah, I don't think I ever used any of the first game weapons, except for the guided missiles once or twice when I was out of ammo or something.

Eh, making money's not all that hard, fortunately. When the wrench gets upgraded so you can do that jump/smash that breaks all breakable objects in your vicinity, there are plenty of safe places you can go and just break shit to collect bolts.

Do I get the wrench upgrade through normal game play or do I have to look for it?

**edit***

Nevermind, some six year old at gamefaqs came through for me.

The Box Breaker is great, they should have given it out earlier.

Shit, for what I'm going to spend in late fees I could have probably just bought this. The replay value is amazing, I love that you get to keep just about everything and have the option to make your weapons even more powerful. Great game, think I'm going to find a cheap copy of the first one.

I got to the final fight the last day i had the game and just gave up. They throw everything at you.

I had a blast with the final battle. I had four killbots flying around, I threw out all twenty mega-turrets and then had the mega-bouncer throwing bombs all over, there was some serious slowdown but it was pretty fun to watch.

Never played this game, but everytime I see this thread title, I think: Who's Ratchet and Clank? and Why are they not wearing any underpants?

Ratchet's a cat thing and clank's a robot, no need for underpants.

I thought the final battle in the first was harder. If you didn't have the R.Y.N.O. it was damn near impossible. Of course, I had the R.Y.N.O 2 and the Zodiac by the first time I went to the final battle on going commando. With those weapons, the whole damn thing is super easy. Which is what I love about these games. You could just power through it with super weapons. Or you could not use them and challenge yourself.
