"One shot, one kill!" SNIPER

This movie may not have one massive set piece but there are a lot of great small scale action sequences that make the flick a good time. Berenger is real strong in this one and oddly enough so was Billy Zane. I think the best moment is when Berenger has the duel with the enemy sniper who killed his original spotter.

Love it when Berenger throws Zane's "Gucci"flage out the train window.

Berenger is tops in this. Luis Llosa's only good movie. Zane is miscast but still does a fine job. I think the film succeeds because of Berenger and the lonely isolated feel it has.

Saw this in the theatres when it came out. I prefer the sequel with Berenger and Bookeem Woodbine, on all levels.

Berenger was great, but didn't quite get Zane. The shoot-out with Berenger's protoge was a little silly to me. The thing takes place with them within shouting distance of each other.

I liked the sequence when Berenger infiltrates the compound, and J.T. Walsh was great, but a lot of the movie was a wasted opportunity.

Way better than The Specialist, though.

For a straight to video sequel I thought "Sniper 2" was decent enough. I was suprised that Berenger shed a lot of his "Training Day" pudge and actually looked in fair shape. But I still think the original is better. There is a really great scene where Zane and Berenger discuss a location in the states that they have both been to. I think it was a place that Berenger wanted to retire to and had no idea was since demolished. It was the type of character driven scene that you don't find very often in action flicks, especially recent ones.

I think I'd be going batshit insane being hunted in the fucking jungle by fucking Tom Berenger.
"Death? What do y'all know about death?"

They're not oscar-calibre - but if you're the kinda fella who misses the days of Cannon and Orion, check 'em both out.
