Who the craps going to win the Stanley Cup? - Page 3

Well.. i can officially stop caring about the NHL for another 15 years
Ah, but World Cup of Hockey is mere weeks away. That's when all the good players living in the States come back and play for Canada.

Anyway, the Cup: What Calgary fan can possibly be upset with 2nd place? All season long, Calgary was a writeoff. No one expected them to get anywhere near the Stanley Cup. To miss by one goal is just fine.

I'm sure winning would be finer.

As for the charging penalty awarded with less than 1 minute left, we are dealing with Kerry Fraser as referee. If anyone walks the streets of Canadian cities in fear year 'round, it's Kerry Fraser.

Oh, and Tampa is one of those one year fluke teams that a lot of sports seem to be having lately. They'll never even get close to the Stanley Cup again.

I would never have called that penalty with 1 minute left. Once again, the refs lose a championship for a team. Oh, I mean, I was pulling for the Canadian team in the series. Even though my beloved Montreal Canadiens lost to TB, another reason to pull for Calgary/the team representing Canada in the finals. Great series, just wish Calgary had come out on top.

Not totally on-topic for the series, but I'm glad ABC is losing the hockey rights. The over-sentimentalization of the Andreychuk situation, the very lame intro, the trio of commentators all talking over each other on every play, it's just a mess.
I totally agree, and don't forget the lame jokes they do, I mean its the final game of the Stanley Cup and their making jokes? C'mon

But, the disappointment isn't so bad because although I live in BC, I mostly grew up in Toronto and cheer for the Leafs. So I still hold out hope that Toronto will one day win the Cup, once they get rid of Quinn.

I always cheer for Toronto. And Edmonton. I can't say I'm a Flames fan even though I live here. Watching Battle of Alberta games next season may be a little hard on the nervous system, though.

CBC coverage is top notch. I don't even bother with TSN or SportsNet, much less the networks. Hockey Night In Canada is where it's at.

I don't follow hockey that much (which I suspect is the reason most people didn't want Tampa to win; Floridians don't care as much) but I have to give it up to a hometown team.

Hooray for the Lightning!

That one was Hell of a run. It was nice to actually be enjoying hockey again, something I haven't really done for a lot of years.

The reffing was terrible all series. What drove me nuts was that the refs would make calls in the first 10 minutes of a game, and then put the whistles away.

The call on Ference with a minute left was bullshit, but the call on Tampa that lead to the Calgary goal was even more so. I still don't know what the Hell they saw there...

Good run Calgary. I really hope that when the NHL starts up again, the Flames won't be remembered as a one season wonder.

I thought I'd be happy with a Tampa Cup, but as the series began and continued I found myself rooting for Calgary. So naturally, they lost.

Oh well. Congrats to Tampa. Maybe we can stop constantly hearing about Andreychuk now...

Huh? That statement makes zero sense. They won the Stanley Cup and the core of the team is still young. Tampa will be a contender for a number of years as long they can keep the team together.
