well the last one has definately been manipulated. It's easier to tell if you invert the picture:

And I hear that most things AICN got on the Batman have all been fake.

I WILL NOT believe anything I see until it is completely confirmed.
and here is my teaser poster based on one of the above sketches

Guess what, I got a fever and the only prescription is more grunge...

I love it.

This is hands-down my most anticipated movie of next year (followed by Sin City and King Kong) - hell of this year for that matter.

The bat will always be my favourite comic hero.

And he's finally going to get the treatment he deserves.

Just from the brief side glimpse i'd say that is awesome. Looks like Jim Lee's Batman from Hush. Only thing about it the costume seems comprised of rubber. I hope this is the actual costume and it is flexible wetsuit material like the one used in Spider-Man. The cowl alone is friggin sweet.

And Bale most definately has the requisit strong jaw doesn't he?

Nice...

I can't wait to see it in action.

The Bat is about to own every Marvel hero-adaptation so far.

I feel it in my bones.

Still rather dark but definitely much to be excited about. It's definitely the same suit seen here:

The explanation for the rectangular area brighter than the rest of the image is probably the work of someone lightening up the costume in Photoshop for more detail. The chest plates are identical.

This could also still be it, too. The suit in the officially released photo appears all black but all reports indicate it is in fact a mixture of grey and black. The bat symbol on this one and the officially released image are one and the same as well.
The EW one is the only one that's real.

The set pic is a complete fabrication. It was originally a Spider-Man set pic, Sam Raimi stood where Batman does. And the Batman in it was created using different pieces of different suits and blending it all with photoshop. If you look closer, his chest piece is Clooney's.

The second fullstanding picture is another photoshop manip. Parts of it are real, but they've been put together like a puzzle, and really poorly, as you can see from the goofy way he's standing.

But as for the real one..very very nice.
Woah!

This looks more like Fatman than Batman.

Not to be harsh, I'm sure it's the lighting and posture, but still a poor choice for our first glimpse of the Bat.
This suit appears to be almost identical to the one worn by Keaton in Batman Returns, albeit with smaller ears.

What happened to rumors of a suit with a more lithe, Year One appearance, with actual pouches on the utility belt and treads on the boots? I thought that, given the success of the fabric Spidey costume, and the desire on the part of the WB and Nolan to differentiate this film from the previous installments, that they would have tried to re-interpret the look of the character, with a more realistic, less rigid costume.

Given the script's reliance on martial arts and acrobatics, I fail to see how this outfit, which is bunching up awkwardly under Bale's armpits even while he's just crouching, is going to look in combat. It seems Bats may still be unable to convincingly turn his head.

That said, Bale looks sexy and dangerous as Wayne, something which none of the other actors in the part were able to pull off.

Adjusted the brightness and contrasts, so you can see more details from the EW picture ...

Still looking ridiculously bulky. What's wrong with that neck?

It looks like it's Tom Sizemore under that latex.
I gotta agree with the critics here. That really does look like the Keaton suit. I've never been a fan of the fake muscle look. I think it looks very village people.

Even though I'm not that big of a fan I was kind of hoping for fan sake that it would be a different looking batman, but it seems to be treading old ground.
Taking into account the look of the batmobile, I just hope it's the lighting and posture and they are not deliberately going for a Frank Miller Dark Knight bulky look.

That would be ASS.
It makes sense that a man who drives a tank would wear body armor.
Yes, odd, I must say.
I think he looks good, but does seem bulky looking.

Still, pretty cool.
He looks very............ inflated.
The cowl is awesome, otherwise...I agree with mastro.
I'm really afraid that they are aiming for this.

Which cannot really be translated into live action and was not what made miller's Dark Knight great.
These preview shots released a year before the film itself never look good.

Wait for the first trailer. Then we'll get a better idea of what's going on.
Ive re looked at it.

I was straight today - I fuckin loved it.

Im stoned tonight - I still fuckin love the suit.

I say to the critics - reserve your final judgements until you see the suit in action.

I dunno. The cowl still looks oversculpted and bulky.
Simplify! Simplify!
I like it. Kind of reminds me of the Guyver, though.
I agree with the overall consensus in thinking that this suit looks way too bulky and unwieldy. I'm going to try and reserve judgement until I get a better look. They haven't let us down so far...
I think the new pic looks solid - although that does little one way or the other to affect my opinion of the film. The script will be way more important than the costume
post #82 of 177
Freedom of movement. That is the key to a realistic Batsuit. Keatons rubber suit made him look like he had a stick up his butt. There was obviously no perepheral vision and the cape interfered with his arm movements. The Bat suit must be both functional and badass!

And it is important that Bale bulk up for this role. He needs to appear capable of kicking ass both in and out of his cowl. I await with baited breath.
I agree that the cowl looks very good, but the suit looks a little bulky.

Of course, I will wait to cast judgement until I see a better picture and the thing in action.
Consider his stance. He's crouched, leaning somewhat forward, with his head is tilted upward. That is automatically going to puff his chest outward and make his neck look bigger. I do agree that the suit seems more vulcanized than they orginally led to believe.

You can sort of see his eyes. I like the fact that he has an actual expression on his face, whereas the best one could hope for before was a half-ass smirk.
Looks a little stiff, but I'll withold judgement until I see it in action. Capes bug me though, they never flow like they do in comics and if they CG it (ala spawn) it looks fake.
the suit does look foam-bulky, which is silly cause who is going to be intimidated by fake puffy muscles? nobody, that's who. and last time i checked, the batsuit didn't have collar. i'm a little disappointed, insofar as i know exactly how i would do it if i were making this film. and my version would kick ass.

having said that, its still early and the pic is awkward as a reference photo for a bunch of obvious reasons. so i'm keeping an open mind until i see it action, as well. the costume is never a deal breaker, but with such an iconic image, its tough.

Interesting. I will say that he looks menacing, like he can pounce on you at any second, like the animated series Dark Knight. Though I was thinking the suit would be a little thinner and less balloon like. But it's dark, and hard to make out, so I'll reserve judgement until I see it in motion.

Also, I don't think anybody's mentioned where this scene might take place. Looks like Axis Chemicals from the first movie. I haven't read the script, so I don't know. Maybe a warehouse?
Slap my thigh and call me gay, but do you really think the guy from American Psycho needs foam padding to look muscular? Have you SEEN that movie?

The gauntlets and cowell look rubber. The rest of the suit looks like cotton or somesuch fabric. Looks like the Year One suit to me. Which i like, since the script makes Bats out to be a lean Ninja rather than a pumped bodybuilder.
You can't even make most of it out, so i can't trash it or praise it yet. The cowl looks fine. If he's wearing a Robin-ish collar, that would be.....stupid.
It's an ok picture, but I haven't formed an opinion on the suit since I can't actually SEE the fuckin suit.
That pic is definitely a cocktease. I need to see detail and good lighting.

It looks like he has a tan turtleneck on coming up out of the breastplate. I'd really like to see some detail on whatever the fuck is going on at the collar.

That said...it's fuckin' Batman. REJOICE.

Just what I thought.

I don't know, the Burton stuff at least looked moveable. Glad I'm not looking forward to this movie.

Lame. As lame as the batmobile, maybe more.

Another pic will be released on the official site this weekend. It'll be of him standing, which the BOF drawing was based on.

Oh, and I think a lot of that is Bale's natural "padding."
Thanks. While I like the suit, this picture still hurts my eyes.

What does everyone think about the eyes? Are those white lenses, or the white of his natural eyes?

Those are his natural eyes, no white lenses. It looks like that in the other picture, because I brightened it a lot.
