" If its any consulation to ya " The Crow

I watched a part of this the other night (the whole thing last April) and it brought back alot of memories. The feeling I get everytime I hear about this film or of Brandon Lee is sadness. What could have been? What would he have done had he not gotten killed while making this film?

As far as the movie goes its a good flick but not a great one. If anything bothers me more now than it did the first time I saw this in theaters 10 years ago its the tone of the film. It goes from dark, brutal and bleak to corny and light (A lot of the scenes with the girl and Ernie Hudson). Proyas did a nice job in my opinion. Michael Wincott, Bai Ling and David Patrick Kelly are all terrific. The real star of the film is Lee obviously and he shines in this. I really liked him in Showdown and Rapid Fire but here he has a vulnerability that he hadn't shown previously. Its a really good performance that again begs the question what would he have done next?

I like the film but I don't watch it very often because it always depresses me.

This movie has aged horribly. I remember liking it in the theaters. Didn't catch it again until just recently. Bland and cliched come to mind. I think Lee's death contributes a lot to this films longevity. If he were still alive and kicking it wouldn't be as popular.

See I only recently saw this film for the first time & absolutely loved it...knew nothing about Lee. From that perspective I think it has aged fine because I believe that it has a lot of what films, especially action ones, are all too often missing today...heart as well as imagery & "flash".

We'll see if I feel the same way in 10 years but for now I feel like I've discovered a treasure that sadly I've missed out on for too long.

i ... dont think its aged that badly at all, incidentally.

When I think of this movie I always wonder why Michael Wincott isn't in more movies. I really thought he was going to take the genre bad guy throne from Lance Henrickson. I haven't seen him in anything since "Along Came a Spider." I'm sure he has done stuff since but when you look at what passes for a villain in crap like "XXX" and "S.W.A.T." you have to shake your head and wonder why Wincott is shamefully absent from major motion pictures.

I saw this movie for the first time last year, and I thought it aged quite well.

i always thought david patrick kelly (t-bird) was the better villain in the movie. top dollar was a bit of a drama queen: t-bird was the goods.

I also don't think the movie has aged poorly. I had the dvd for the longest time before I finally got around to watching it, but when I did it brought back great memories and I think I enjoyed it even more than I had ever done so before. Throw in all the Brandon Lee tragedy and drama and the movie has a bit of an eerie sting to it. Now I'm compelled to watch it again. I think I will, soon...

One cool thing on the dvd is the extensive gallery of posters that could have been. there's lots of cool stuff in there and it makes me wonderhow much cool imagery we miss out on for other movies,

Its a solid comic book film as well. Not a solid adaptation though. Soundtrack is very cool for this too.

I think that's more of a product of today than the actual film. 10 years ago it wasn't bland and cliched. Since then every aspect of it has been aped- the alt rock soundtrack, the gloom, the overall style. There's a whole new generation of goth kids who total sucked all that was good from this film.

I think it was a unique film in its day, and we shouldn't blame it for its ilk becoming trite since then.
