Strange Days

Has ANYONE seen this movie?

Like all of Kathryn Bigelow's films I can think of (Near Dark comes to mind), it's a great movie no one has seen. Almost completely forgotten.

Highly recommended. You'll either love or hate it. You don't need to know anything about the plot, for fear of giving anything away. Just see it.

If you liked eXistenZ this is required viewing.

hmm.... i'm not sure i see the connection between "strange days" and "existenz", except for the brain recording, of course. i think they are thematically different and offer very different moods. i kind of like "strange days" - it's a bit flawed here and there and there's a "johnny mnemonic" vibe about it that i really don't like, but it's always good to watch ralph fiennes work and it's got some of the classic sci-fi flavors that i like very much. it could have been a heck of a lot better, but the result isn't bad anyway.

The film is a real mixed bag. Really enjoyed Fiennes and Bassett's work in it. However some of the movie just didn't seem to work for me. The murder of the rapper no. 1. Concept was cool but it seems like they didn't really go anywhere with this. Some very annoying performances from Wincott and Lewis as well.

Haven't seen it in a while, but I know I really liked the ending, with the New Year's celebration, the crowd almost rioting etc.

Produced by Cameron. And the two asshole cops are played by Vincent D'onofrio and Wliiam Fichtner if I remember correctly. Both good actors.

Yes, it contains a bunch of really fun actors, and this is one of my favorite Angela Bassett roles, too. Good to see Fiennes out of the regular Merchant Ivory/Oscar bait sort of things he's appeared in so often. Come to think of it, he was generally nice to look at in Strange Days, anyway. Also good to see Juliette Lewis not playing someone dumb, though I could have done without the PJ Harvey karaoke.
I still think this film had the best preview I've ever seen. And they did a great job with the production design. They really created a unique atmosphere, I thought. I got to see it in the theater, and it looked great.

If you want to see a film about similar technology, check out Brainstorm.

I liked it. Angela Bassett kicked a lot of ass in this movie.

I paid $20 for this at Best Buy. They now have it on the bargain shelf for $5.99.

i found this film to be disappointing, i also can't stand Juliette Lewis, i think she's carved out of wood, she also creeps me out, Bigelow was great for Point Break, although the Weight of Water sucked, overall Strange Days was not very impressionable, i thought Fiennes was miscast, Sizemore can do no wrong, but James Cameron? ewww...
