Oh my, oh my. I've just forced myself to see this and noticed... it was just absolutely wrongly advertised.
It was advertised as a creepy, asskicking horror movie with lots of shocking scenes and some sick stuff.
As that, it sucks.
In fact, it was actually a very good suspension thriller with some mystery and some horror elements. Halle's perfomance amazed me, this is the first movie where I really saw her acting. And she's not bad at it, so to speak.
I figured the whole "twist" of the ending out right 10 minutes in, but it didn't decrease my entertainment. Kassovitz (who already made that great Crimson Rivers) beautifully shot the whole flick and made me overlook some of the major flaws. Addtionally, we got Alien³ preacher Dutton, snownose Downey Jr and a surprisingly effective supporting Penelope Cruz.
You should give it a try, and if you already saw it as a horror flick and were terribly disappointed, give it a second try as a mystery movie.
