I bought the SE of this the other day, I had never seen it. I was very impressed. I'll talk about it when I have more time. Now you people discuss, dammit.

I remember seeing this in the theater and being blown away by it. Its an amazing piece of work by Stone. The scene with X is stunning( my favorite part of the film as well). However some things over time have gotten worse in repeat viewings. Joe Pesci's out on a limb performance and Costner's accent grates on my nerves.

The film is at its best where it really should have fallen apart. Of course all the conspiracies and speculative moments I mean. I think Stone is a nut but a very gifted one and I have alot of respect for a guy that has the balls to make a movie like this one. A good film but it has its flaws.

The Donald Sutherland/Mr. X scene comes right at the end of the second act and so dominates the rest of the movie, in my opinion. The movie never recovers after that. After that, it's just arguments with Spacek and a trial of speechifying. Up until that point, it's a riveting film, however.

Pesci's hairpiece dominated the entire film. Does anyone know if that video that showed the actual hit to JFK... was that real, or did they create that for the film?

Personally, I love the movie (although not as much as my wife who probably watches it once a month). My favorite line is the one about a coup-de-tat (sp?) with LBJ waitin in the wings. And, as far as cinemtaography goes, it is a gorgeous film.

My problem comes with the look at New Orleans. There was so much going on there at the time. They hardly bring in the Mob (which was at its height of power in New Orleans at the time) or the corruption of the local politics and police.

Plus, they don't dive nearly enough into LBJ and Texas. The man had more influence than just the oil barrons.

Good movie, lousy history.

Do you mean the Zhpruder(?) film? That was the real deal.

Abraham Zhpruder was just a bystander filming JFk's visit when the murder occurred. He happened to have an 8mm movie camera that caught the killing. He sold it to LIFE magazine for $100,000.00 I believe it was kept from the public until a decade later.

Love this movie. Stone's masterpiece. Most of the theories are false, but some, like the woman found on the side of the road in Texas telling anyone who would listen that the president was going to be murdered and who herself was later murdered was fact.

one of my favorite movies of all time.

Stone really screwed with history, here's what was REALLY happening when Harvey Lee was 'shot'...

Done in the days before Photoshop, which makes it MORE impressive!!

...and I hope you noticed the 'Dead Kennedys' logo in shadow on the back wall (subtle, I thought..,)

...and Dr Cosmo, the genious behind this, appears top left!
