Capturing the Friedmans

Please tell me I'm not the only one who has seen this documentary. It's so fascinating. It's about a family, the father and son of which are accused of child molestation. I've seen the movie twice, and I don't quite know who to believe. I'm sure the father was the one molesting the kids, but I'm not sure about Jesse, the son. What do you guys who've seen it think about the movie and the case?

I don't think the father molested any of the computer class kids, although I'm not 100% sure. I think the great thing, the point that I take away from the whole thing, is just what an elusive thing the "truth" can be.

But the father admitted to it, did he not?

The father admitted to having molested kids on family vacations at the beach.

Well...that's OK then.

I managed to catch this after Devin plugged it on the site way back last year. The DVD is great and just manages to add to the confusion. The film does such a masterful job or showing you the different points of view that I'm not even sure what the filmmakers themselves believe. It manages to be a family drama, a social commentary, and a legal thriller all rolled into one package.

As an aside, I wonder if the son's clown business was hurt at all by the film? That really took some serious balls to come out and talk about that on film, especially when his job involves working with children.
