When i saw this movie way back on 1999 i thought it was a really good satire of the Gulf War, but seeing this movie now after what happened on Iraq last year i think this is really close to a masterpiece. When i see this movie now i cant hardly laugh at the comedic scenes, because when i think about whats really happening there at the moment, god i feel depressed.

Also, why we are not seeing more of Spike Jonze the actor, not the director???? This guy was great here.

The scene with the exploding cow is my favorite.

I do believe it is. It's dramatic, funny, and incredibly sharp and perceptive. I'd put this up against any film made in the 90's... right up there with Unforgiven.

Maybe the Iragi Ass Map could help our forces find some sort of WMD!

I still don't understand why this movie isn't more of a classic. Great performances all around and a really great style that doesn't ever get too ham handed. Plus it's the only movie made about the Gulf War that's worth a damn.

And now the DVD is being delayed because in today's political climate, any anti-war documentary is "totally inappropriate".

More self-censorship, this is like being back in the 50s. I mean, the whole film is anti-war, but it's "inappropriate" to put a documentary with it that really nails the point home? Talk about hypocrisy...

Yeah read that - thats seriously fucked up.

How long before the term "fireman" means something else entirely?

Oh and - brilliant film.

It'll make ya laugh, it'll make ya cry. I pulled this off the shelf for the first time in years the other day, and I liked it even more than I did the first time. In fact, I gained a whole new respect for it: "What is it you want, to invade Iraq? Have another Viet Nam on our hands?" Something like that?

From blowing up Nerf footballs to a bullet to a woman's head in minutes. An intense little film, and uniquely made as well.

Love it... I love how at first they hate the Iraqis and want nothing to do with them, but as soon as they see what's happening out there, they have the choice of leaving these people with nothing, or helping they people they once hated.. the scene right before the bullets start "wizzing" is great...where Clooney walks over and just fuckin' disarms the man who shot that woman.."You are, say, out of Iraq.." "I don't think so.." yet this movie has some very funny scenes as well...I love movies where there are some comedic elements in it, yet there are also some dramatic elements so you care about the characters much more than you would in just a standard comedy...after Barlow takes a bullet at the end, and Archie and a few other guys open fire on the shooter, followed by Archie walking up to the man and putting 4 extra rounds in his chest in frustration.. GREAT movie
