So, do I get kicked out of here for saying I prefer this sequel to the original?

You should, but maybe we can convince you of your misguided ways.

I LOVE the sequel, but if given a choice, "A-number ONE the DUKE Of NEW YAAAAARK!"

LONG LIVE THE DUKE!

I'm going the get flack up the ass for this, but I find both movies pretty dull. I always felt Snake was a badass just because they said, "Hey... he's a badass... look, he's got an eye patch." I didn't buy it.

I love both movies, but for different reasons, Escape From L.A. is so damn great because the satire in it is through the roof...and has the superior ending...probably one of the greatest endings in cinematic history.

I gotta say that I don't love either film, but Russel's Snake Is a fucking badass, and I too love the ending to LA. I would rather watch LA than New York, but I don't know if it is the better film.

I love the surfing scene when Fonda yells "OH, SNAKE", even though it's laughably fake. Why did they have to high-five? My other favorite scene is when Snake repeatedly slams Buscemi's face against the steering wheel of the car, and it makes the horn go. That's funny!

That's the genius of Fonda. I'm sure this was all ad libbed, since no one can write 'two guys ride a really fake looking wave' dialogue like this.

Snake- "Later." *high five*

Fonda- "OW-OO, SNAKE! YA-HA!!"

I'm actually with you on this. This was a lot more fun (though it did have really silly parts) and the satire was pretty funny.

There's a moment in EFLA where Snake walks by a door of a checker cab with "Metropolitan Cab Co." on it...anybody see that?

I dig the first one, EFNY for two reasons: Adrienne Barbeau.

My love of EFNY is more than 50% nostalgic. It really hasn't aged well, but it's a good story and it has a solid cast.

I'm still conflicted on LA. It seems lousy on the surface, but so did They Live. Repeated viewings of many Carpenter flicks has endeared them to me. Perhaps LA needs a few more viewings to truly appreciate the satire Carpenter was shooting for.

Or maybe it just sucks. Someday I will know for sure.
