Ricochet

This movie has got a little something for everyone. Denzel Washington gives a nice paranoid performance. Kevin Pollack gets to apply his William Shatner impression on film. Last but certainly not least John Lithgow gets to defeat Jesse Ventura in a prison gladiator battle. What's not to like?

This is one of the movies I just can't stand. From Ice T's performance to Lithgow's it gets worse and worse for me. Even Washington looked like he was delivering from the hip here. The score is atrocious as well. I'm glad there are people that enjoy this flick for what it is I just never liked this one.

Thankfully Ice-T redeemed himself years later as a crazy swearing hobo-hero in SURVIVING THE GAME.

Yep, this is one of those dumbass movies that I can't help but watch every time it's on Encore or whatever. Lithgow is so cosmically evil that you can't help but laugh. One part I did feel was effective was when Denzel watches the video tape of Lithgow poised over his children's bed with a hatchet in his hand. Creepy. And completely ridiculous.

I love this movie. It's one of those flicks I recorded off of HBO about 7 years ago. Something like that. I like how Denzel's character gets famous, taking his clothes off on tv to make a bust. Lame. But Lithgow creeps the shit out of me, and Ice-T is oscar-worthy AS ALWAYS.

How can people not like this movie?

I'll admit that Ice-T is the weak link in this film. But the John Lithgow parole hearing and prison escape alone make this one of Joel Silver's most underrated productions.

My friends at USC were extras in this, so I watched it mainly to catch them. Ended up liking it alot. Denzel's great (especially that impassioned lecturing to the gangbangers, or as he calls them, "Punk motherfuckers."), the Bionic Woman ("I'd like to put her tits in a ringer.") as the LAPD Chief was genious stunt-casting, and the movie's filled with such memorable lines like Lithgow's "I'll fuck your wife, your daughters, hell, even your dog", Ice-T's "Wanna know who's really got the power? Get yo' punk ass to the tower.", Pollack's "How can he be dead, when he just killed me?" I was honestly hoping for something more from Russell Mulcahy teaming up with Joel Silver, but wasn't totally dissatisfied with this end result. But still, the most memorable moment in the flick for me was that hooker with the velcro top.

I did the same thing to someone I didn't like in high school.
