So he tried to cover the whole thing up, but didn't kill the guy. Even though he did. I wonder what the juror payoff was.

Sounds like they probably got the verdict right.. I don't think he meant to kill the guy, and I think he did try to cover it up. Sounds about what they agreed on.

Well, nobody really thinks he had it in for the guy, but it's hard to imagine this as anything but a reckless act.

Aggrivated manslaughter, on the other hand, always sounded like a bit much.

Let's remind folks that he's already lost the civil suit BTW.

..but do you think the guy deserves long jail time for what happened? Any punishment that could affect him has already happened, as in living with that death on his mind forever.
It really depends on what the criteria for reckless manslaughter is.

I think what most of the witnesses said Jayson said right after he shot the man was telling.
"Oh my god. My life is over."

'My life'. As the guy he shot was dying on his carpet. Then he tried to cover everything up. For the lack of concern for the man he shot and his efforts to make the shooting look like a suicide, i thought he should have gotten jailtime.

In America if you have enough money and some fame you can get away with it. Land of the free heh heh.

You want to get on his case for trying to cover things up, fine, but thinking about the consequences effecting his own life first? I don't see why that's so abominable.

i tend to think scumbag when When the thought process is:

Oh my god. My life is over (i gotta cover this up)

Instead of:

Oh my god. I just shot a guy. (I should call an ambulance)

See, I don't look at the two as linked. I remember seeing someone hit a kid with his car, the guy was inconsolable. He just hit a kid with his car, his life was over.

Obviously there were other people there to call the police and what not, but I don't begrudge him for acknowledging the immediate impact upon his own life.

Those are two completely different emotions. Since the effect on yourself is so personal to yourself, it's what goes through your mind first. I don't think he was ignorning the death of the man that got shot, as much as regonizing that he couldn'd do anything for him anymore, and that he was now the one that was affected in the current and future.
