Alien Dead/contamination

I recently bought a copy of Fred Olen Ray's ALIEN DEAD at Best Buy. I also saw a copy of the italian movie CONTAMINATION, yet didnt buy it. Has anyone seen ALIEN DEAD? If so, is it worth keeping (its unopened) or should I return it? Any good zombie fun in that movie? If not, I might just return it for CONTAMINATION. Please Help.

Not familiar with Alien Dead, brother, but I can vouch for Contamination. A good film? No way. There's some camp value and a shitload of exploding chest shots that made me happy enough to keep my copy. Goblin's score is funky.

Here is a tip, ANY movie with Fred Olen Ray's name on it, AVOID!
Contamination has some fantastic gore, but it's rather boring.

Thanks Rotten and Franco. Yes, Ive seen my fair share of all the different types of Italian horror. Im a big fan of Dario Argento, Lucio Fucli myself, and have seen a majority of their films. I think Im gonnna replace ALIEN DEAD w/ Contamination. I just skimmed an old copy of RUE MORGUE that had a review for Contamination. Had good shit to say. So....yea I know how the Italians handle their movies......good gory cheap fun

Another question though -- the dvd version of Lucio Fulci's GATES OF HELL (CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD), is that much different than the many copies of VHS prints there were? I still have yet to get the dvd for it - yet want to know if the print is all scratchy as the print on the VHS copy ? Also, the version I have is GORY , yet does the DVD offer uncut? Yes, my VHS does contain all the brain matter ripping, maggot infested, and organ/intestine spewing the film has to offer. The video is on a "creature features" label. Sorry for all the questions.

Right on! Well, thats great to hear. I could use more blood than I could a maggot storm (ugh) but glad to know its supreme over the copy I have. Ok...the final ending question Franco. We discussed the print, (out of curiosity), is it "clearer" in the ending catacombs scene? Its so dark and pitch black on my copy I can hardly make out what is what.

Awesome. Well thanks Franco for the info in regards to COTLD. Yea that ending.......hmmm its a strange one. Yet, in some book (EATEN ALIVE) or a Fangoria Mag I have explains where Fulci and the editor came up w/ the particular ending.....interesting story.
