Clint Malarchuk. Nasty.

Apparently, when he was sitting there watching blood squirt 4 feet out of his artery every time his heart beat, he looked up at the ref standing over him and asked "Am I going to die?"

The ref just sort of kept staring and went "uuuuummmmmmmm....."

I liked how the announcer said "get the camera off of him!", but the cameraman stayed on him.

Mid-80s, I believe. Read on article on him in the Sporting News in the early 90s. That injury pretty well deep-sixed his NHL career, and he was playing in the minors. I think he might have gotten back in the NHL for a cup of coffee, but can't quite remember.

I read a Buffalo News article about him a couple months back. It was essentially a 'where are they now?' piece. I'll see if I can find it archived on their website...

Edit: Found it.

Guess he had some major mental issues, good to see he's better now.
