Eh?

No, this ain't in the wrong forum.

Soon they'll be having Spidey ads on bases???

Anyone who steals a base head first will be remembering to see the film, that's for sure.

Seems like an extremely desparate move. I hope this doesn't spread or catch on.

Disappointed to see the Yankees doing this. I mean, for 100K? They spend more than that on the post-game buffet.

I'll put up with ads on the grandstand, on the screen, and on TV, but keep the shit outside the white lines.

This is just the beginning, I'm afraid. Soon they'll be ad whores like NASCAR.

"And Schilling sets up on the Kleenex pitching mound...he releases the FedEx pitch...the Aunt Jemima batter swings...and it's a CHUD double!"

It's dead. Thanks to the Yanks!

Saw that, and it's great news. But I'm surprised the Yanks didn't at least offer the ol' webslinger to a $80 mil contract.

He's a hometown boy, but probably a Mets fan.

This will only happen once every few millenia, but here goes...

Thank you George Steinbrenner.

Thank Steinbrenner.

Steinbrenner is a lot of things, but he does have respect for tradition.

Think of all of this from another angle, though - what if baseball never wanted to put the logo on the bases? What if they just wanted more "free" publicity? I mean, they are still going to put the logo in the on-deck circles. Who knows.

The advertising and sponsorships are getting out of hand, but with the insane salaries, there's no other way to get money. Dunkin' Donuts Place at the Ballpark in Hot Steaming Coffee Cupland is getting old quickly, but since MLB is only entertainment, you can't really expect anything less.

But it is nice that they haven't tainted (yet) the areas inside of the foul lines.

Don't thank anyone for this. Selig was going to pull it this way no matter what. He knew there was going to be outrage on this the instant he played with the notion. I'm sure he got a ton of money under the table because he just gave Spiderman the publicity they wanted. Excellent move by Columbia Pictures. Someone deserves a raise.

The yankees didn't like this deal because they were only going to get 100K....Steinbrenner ditched this idea because he knows that he could sell it for a LOT more.

For him it was a monetary decision, nothing more.
