How'd you guys leave Garnett off both of your teams?
I don't exactly enjoy Garnett. His "behind the scenes" dirty style doesn't go over well with myself...
I'd rather Duncan at the 4, and Garnett at the 3 wouldn't work.

Then again, I'm not all that sure about Predrag Stojakovic, I just wanted a SG that didn't need 30+ shots a night. Maybe Michael Redd?
Now that I think of it...the SF position really seems to have a lack of quality players...

McGrady, Artest, Carmelo, Jefferson, Peja, Finley...I started out to refut your point, but as I started listing people, I realized you were right.
Well I mean in relation to the other positions except maybe PG but it seems more and more players are excelling at that position...

In fact I'll take out McGrady and put in Artest. I'd sacrifice that offense for established defense.
PG - Jason Kidd
SG - LeBron James
SF - T-Mac
PF - Tim Duncan
C - Yao Ming

Watching the ball movement on this team would be a blast.

BTW, the small forward position has never really been log-jammed w/ talent.
Jason Kidd
Tracy McGrady
Dirk Nowitzki
Tim Duncan
Yao Ming

I had totally forgotten about LeBron and Dirk. I might take Lebron over Kobe, just so the ball will get passed around a little.
Funny because Kobe's and LeBron's career assist average will most likely be the same. In fact LeBron only averaged one more assist this year and it matched Kobe's assist avg. from last year... And LeBron has yet to show the clutch behavior. That's the biggest reason why Kobe is over McGrady and such. Over any shooting guard in the NBA at this point.

Lebron had to do it all himself though this year. Kobe has a strong supporting cast, he just don't pass the ball.
And yet you can't tell me that on the basis of the assist average alone. LeBron averaged .8 assist average more this year and that is with the Cavs shooting a .001 difference in FGS than the Lakers...so arguably the "supporting cast" is the same level.

Look I know Lebron is gonna be friggin awesome, but to consider him better at the SG position regardless of ball movement isn't reasonable at this time. Besides games are won in the fourth and no player in the NBA today tops Kobe in the fourth.

I know Kobe isn't a well liked player but there is no denying how great he is and how much greater he will become (barring criminal situations). Again, LeBron ain't there yet.
Also LeBron didn't do it all himself this year. To say that would be to deny the great leaps Carlos Boozer made this year and also the play of Jeff McGinnis who, had he not been injured near the end, would have led the Cavs to the playoffs.

In some ways McGinnis was just as big a piece in the puzzle as LebRon was...
Losing McInnis was huge because he was, quite unexpectedly, a perfect fit for running Silas's offense. Watching them move the ball during their win streak near the end of the season was inspiring, but while McInnis was crucial to its success, it was LeBron who kicked it up to the next level. The fluidity of the offense coupled with 'Bron's incredible speed made double teaming him nearly impossible. The still need to add a dependable three-point threat, but once they do, they'll be on their way.

Kobe's undoubtedly the better clutch player, but, in picking my top five, I already have a proven winner in Duncan. Plus, 'Bron's backcourt speed w/ Kidd is too irresistible.

Kidd is on the downside of his career IMO. Plus, Boozer and Mcinnis don't equal Shaq, Malone, and Payton

Exactly. If I wanted a team full of shooting losers i'd pick Iverson and Kobe.

Neither do Shaq, Malone, and Gary as this season has proved...

Touche my friend, touche.

BTW, when I saw your name, I immediately thought about Darrel "Chocolate Thunder" Dawkins for some reason...don't know why.
Kidd
McGrady
Peja
Garnett
Jermaine O'neal

6th Duncan
The problem with all of your lists is that they are full of superstar players, and if there is one thing that we have learned from such train wrecks as the LA Lakers and Houston Rockets, you cannot have a team of superstars - you need good role players who will gel together and complement each others' play.

I don't know who I'd pick for some positions, but it would look close to this:

PG: Tony Parker
SG: LeBron James
SF: Matt Harpring
PF: Kevin Garnett
C: Tim Duncan

It may not be exactly that, but you need a good mix of role players and superstars, or it just won't work.
Hey now, I feel like I put enough unselfish players on my team.
Those superstar teams were always (and are) full of aging stars. Shaq is out-of-shape and not driven, Payton has lost a step or two, Malone is slower and lost that quick step.. same with the Rockets team of past.

My list again and why:

Kidd <--unselfish, great passer, leader

McGrady <--talented, scorer, will take the big shot

Peja <--unselfish, deadeye from the outside, makes the inside game better by being such a skilled jumpshooter which will open up the game for:

Garnett <--good jump shooter, strong on the inside, great defender, basically all the skills you could want out of a PF and more

Jermaine O'neal <--young, driven, and skilled. picked him over Shaq because of age and attitude, also because he still has the passion to win that Shaq seems to lack these days

6th Duncan <--because I had a hard time picking Garnett over Duncan, you could use him at the 4 or 5 and is probably the most technically skilled bigman of all-time so early in his career.
I'll go with youth...

PG: Lebron
SG: Redd
SF: Carmello
PF: Gasol
C: Yao

They are all under 25.

I just wont be able to sign 'em all when their contracts come up.
Shaq C
Garnett SF (he actually plays this positon for the Wolves)
Duncan PF
Kobe SG
Kidd PG

Yeah, nothing says "loser" like a 3 time world champion like Kobe.
i'm picking by actual position:
pg kidd
sg kobe
sf bowen
pf duncan
c shaq
6th r.miller
coach carlisle

- picked bowen strictly for d. artest was considered for this but i just think bowen is an actual better player at d. artest is the better overall player though.

- miller is there for basically late in games. he's the best pure shooter possibly ever.

PG - Jason Williams
SG - Peja
SF - Kirilenko
PF - Nowitzki
C - Rasho

That was actually sorta tough to come up with an All-White Team. I like them though, I think they could hang around for awhile.

That starting five can probably only be matched by the dream team. And I'd give the edge to the dream team just because of Jordan. But that is the best possible starting five in the NBA right now.

Lebron, Marion and Marbury going to the Olympics? Lebron, okay. Marion and Marbury, WTF?
LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Kenyon Martin, Richard Jefferson, Shawn Marion, Brad Miller, Sam Cassell, Amare Stoudemire and Stephon Marbury are the names I keep hearing.

Seriously, I don't mind that list of players in the least. Kidd probably can't physically make a go of it, and though I wish it would include a Duncan or a Shaq, their absence doesn't bug me at all.

Duncan, Jermaine O'Neal, Ray Allen, Iverson, and Richard Jefferson are in. Shaq, thinking...Garnett, thinking.
Ah, so that list of mine appears to be *potential* additions, with Jefferson accepting. Well, if Duncan is in, I could care less who else they throw in.
it's not looking like kg or shaq will be there. shaq says it depends on how far the lakers make it. there's a slight chance kobe will play but it's doubtful.
Kobe might not have a choice.. people keep forgetting this.
PG HOWARD EISLEY
SG FRED HOIBERG
SF MOOCHIE NORRIS
PF STANISLAV MEDVEDENKO
C SHAWN BRADLEY

no they don't. everybody realizes that the rape charges crap are holding him back. if everything gets cleared up with that he will definitely play. he has even left it open he could possibly play if he has time. it's doubtful though.
