Great caps, dude. How do you do it?

Looks like another DVD I'll have to pick up. Can anyone figure out why Hollywood hasn't put out a live action feature yet? In the Harry Potter age it seems like a tailor-made hit

Thanks, man! Here is a tip for great screen caps -- constant masturbation. Actually, it works for most things.

It is a pretty solid little package if you are a fan of 60s sci-fi and spy films. Although I would love to see a live action using the jonny quest characters, for some reason I always picture a disaster of Masters Of The Universe calibre. It works in cartoon because of its campy quality, but outside the medium it may be a little weak.

Wasn't there a Johnny Quest animated movie a while back? I think I remember watching it back in the day and marveling at the body count. Anyways, good review, good show.

There was an next gen cartoon series of the show back in the 80s, but I can't remember an animated movie. An animated movie might be just the ticket, but only for the purposes of Cartoon Network or TeleToon. Theatrical release would be devastating.

Thanks for addressing up front that this series is as good as we remember it. Not too long ago I bought a bootleg of the entire series of a cartoon that I loved as a child. It cost me $100. And it was godawful bad. Since then, I've been wary of putting my neck out.

But I've come to really trust your judgement, Nash. I'll check this out. Also, your reviews are great. I'm glad to see more and more of them on this site.

Just out of interest, anyone know of that animation that used a single-fixed facial animated cel and live-action lips, I think the last time I viewed this was when the kid was approached by Walken in 'Pulp Fiction'...I used to see this a lot in the late sixties; and when 'The New Adventures of Jonny Quest' started, I thought this was the earlier incarnation of it...guess I was wrong.

Anyone else who can give me a heads-up on what animated series I 'might' of been viewing?

Or WAS it Jonny Quest??

Thanks Rob, I aims to please. Up next, Brother-Bear!

Just out of curiosity, what series did you pick up? I've been disappointed many a time by older cartoons, recently with Masters Of The Universe which is practiacally unwatchable as an adult.

It was John Kricfalusi's The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse. I'm glad it exists because some serious animation heavy hitters found their feet in the production of it...including Bruce Timm. But John K. just isn't the genius I always thought he was.

The older Ren and Stimpy shows still hold up, though.

The series most famous for that technique was Clutch Cargo, which first aired in the late 1950s. A few years later Space Angel was made in the same style.

Thanks for that!

Johnny Quest had the coolest theme song around.

"...the ass-kickery of “Race” Bannon, an expert in bad-guy population control."
Awesome.

Anyone remember the "Toby Danger" parody they had on Freakazoid? Hysterical. "Take that, you heathen monkeys!" That would make a great DVD Easter Egg.
