I watched this last night on the action channel. I haven't seen it in years. What a blast and the FX still hold up very well. Every single kill was excellent

Did the main FX guy for the Thing do the effects on this movie. very similar and creative

You talking Rob Bottin?

No, he wasn't involved.

I went out and bought it after Ryan made a post about it. Great flick, can't believe I haven't seen it before.

I like it. It has great special effects and an entertaining story. I love the 50's/80's crossover thing they tried to do. The main characters had an eighties look to them and used the slang of the time but they gave them a few nostaliga elements as a homage to the original.

LOVE this flick!

I remember the night I saw this in the theater myself plus two others were the only ones in the house.

And Shawnee Smith! Hubba, hubba. Va va va Voooom!

A great time, despite Kevin Dillon's shag-nasty mullet.

See, this is how remakes should be done. Take a classic film and UPDATE it for the times, with new style and gore and effects, but without losing any of the magic of the original film.

This is a cool movie.

Two words Joe Seneca

I'm still amazed at how well the effects have held up.

In the hospital when the doc pulls the covers off the old bum and his lower half looks like pizza mixed with vomit mixed with lazanga. Disgusting shit.

I also like how the blob was explained as a bio weapon gone horribly wrong.

btw, Frank Darabont co-wrote the screenplay.

Yeah, it rocks -- got the DVD as soon as I found out it was available. So, what the fuck happened to Chuck Russell? Wasn't his last big movie The Scorpion King? I mean, what the fuck...

Dillon: "If you want me, you know where to find me."

He plays such lovable punk in this it's hard not to like him after he licks that cop's face. The Blob is a flick that has held up real well over time...just like that jar of The Stuff I got in my fridge.

THE MASK, ERASER and THE SCORPION KING were three pretty successful actioners... I'd say he's become a sure thing as far as midrange action directors.

He also appeared on two episodes of SPACE GHOST: C2C.

The FX of this film scared the hell out of me when I first saw it. But years later I found them much more enjoyable. This is one of the best remakes around and it's a shame that there's another remake planned. They just want to make a CGI Blob, that's all. This film had a cool story for the blob's origin as opposed to it just being an alien. In the original, it was an alien organism, right?

Anyway, I want to show this to my cousins to see if it'll warp them. I wonder how they'll react to the grisly images of melted people lying around and being digested. BTW, did the '58 original have anything remotely gory? Did the blob have acidic properties like it did in the remake?

Blob 1988 was actually the third blob movie. I know there was one made in or around 70,71 that was in color. Its been so long since I've seen it I can't remember. It may have been a sequel.

The sequel to which your thinking about Altar is Son of Blob . Came out somerwhere around 1972, 73, and was directed by Larry Hagman, better known as J.R. Eweing on Dallas fame. I saw it once on T.V. back in 91' on a show hosted by Granpa Munster himself. The whole thing I remember as just being plain goofy. Also them original film itself was also in color when it came out.
