My band's new EP: Tarwater Radio

My latest band, in which I play bass, has just finished a 4-song EP. It, like the band, will be called Tarwater Radio. The EP is available for download on the site http://www.tarwaterradio.com .

Please give it a listen and tell me what you think. We're one of those "alt.country" type bands. Please don't use the term alt.country if you can find your way around it. I suggest Honk & Roll, which is not only a great substitute, it is also something that actually makes a damn bit of sense.

There are a couple of live tracks that are less than steller. Those were recorded at the first gig we played with our newest guitarist. We just played a really good show at The Earl here in Atlanta last week and should have some mp3's from that show up later in the week.

I like your singer. He's got a sort of Tom Petty/Bruce Springsteen thing going. Nice guitar work, too.
All Along the Way is cool, and I like the lyrics in California. Good stuff!
By My Side is really cool. I think that's my favorite one. It feels like a Cat Stevens tune, but easier to listen to. (I really like Cat Stevens by the way. just in small doses.) BMS is is a reall cool laid back song. I like it.

Reunion is really, really good. Not my favorite. The recording seems a little off somehow. Maybe it's just an odd rhythm. that's probably it.

You guys are really good! Wow, I'm impressed. This feels a lot more real than any of the corporate country that gets pumped out on ClearChannel radio.
This is great music. I hope you guys go far. I'll be a fan.

How do I order a CD?

Thanks for the feedback.

It has ceased to amaze me, but of all the songs I thought people would latch onto Reunion never came to mind back when we were starting out. Ever since our first show it's been the one we hear the most compliments on. It's one of the most simple songs we do, but easily one of the most difficult to execute. Typically it starts with a long snare roll with the harmonica coming in on top, but we changed the intro in the studio a bit to save time. We did all but the final mixdown in one day.

Our lead guitarist is primarily a bassist, see http://www.theluxurykings.com , so I know he appreciates the kind words toward the guitar work. We're all big Petty/Springsteen fans, so there's no surprise there.

Eventually I'm going to have CD's made up, as well as DVD's of what is currently our best show (so far). Currently my burner drive is hosed. The plan is to sell all goods on disc at $5 a disc, $4 for two or more. T-Shirts are also in the works. There will be more 4-song eps to come, most likely self-recorded. I think that, as much as I'd rather have full albums, the ep is the format of the future.

Look at it this way: Back in the day we had Vinyl. At the end of one side you had to get up and walk over to the turntable and flip the record. Hence, you had an interactive experience and got up and around a bit, if only briefly. I mean, how many times have you slept through the second half of a CD, or just barely payed attention to it. With an ep, or two, you get the same experience, but better. Plus you get out more content faster, and right now that's most important. Who cares how good you are if no one is there to hear it, right? Exactly.
