Dinner in Dallas June 5 (Akon Weekend)

Hastur (Claudia), Hedgehog (Michelle), Lurker Campion (Andrew) and I will be coming up to Dallas for Akon that weekend; I know Momotoro and Mz. D'Kay will be as well.
This year, Akon is at the Adam's Mark downtown; as parking is at a premium, and the busses run down there, how about we choose a resturaunt downtown, possibly in the West End district (unless someone has a better idea)?

Who's with us? We're doing Sat because Hedghog's only up for one day.

Kitty, is your wedding that weekend?
Naw, her wedding is this upcoming weekend, so she will be an old married woman by the time A-Kon rolls around. Yeah, I'll be there. My cell phone number is the same, and I still have your (Coyote) number programmed in from last year, do you still have that same one?
I'm all for dinner and whatnot, but I will have company (non-Chud) with me, but they are open-minded people, so no need to be skittish.

I should also point out that General Logon, Katanga and possilby Tony BagO'Donuts should attend as well as the youthful cat in nightwear. But I can't speak for them, so hopefully they will pop up in here and raise their hands.

Youthful cat in nightwear?

Do I wanna know?

I haven't seen Katanga around on the boards much....

Same cell phone number, here. Hedgehog has a gallery in the Akon art show, btw.

And Hastur will be running her Bullet Scenario Games, as well as 2 sessions of the Sex & Fandom panels, Thurs night and...Sat I think.
I don't game at all, but I will be sure to check out Michelle's gallary. Will she be selling anything? It seems that everyear I make a plan to check out the paintings and drawings they have, but it's always closed when I go by or so full of people I don't bother. I'll pay attention this year since I actually know somebody with work in the showing.

Katanga has been off and on at generallogan.com boards, and I think he's also hanging out at Devin's boards, but I never go there so I couldn't tell you. Both Gen. Logan and Kitty are good to go I believe. I'll have to verify that tomorrow.

Yep, she'll be selling Both in the auction and direct sales.

As for Hastur's games...these aren't normal gaming-style games. More like Host Your Own Murder Mysteries with less rules and much more adrenaline and creepiness. You're put in a situation (sometimes with a very sketchy outline of your character, sometimes not), and the plot unfolds around you, in a pressure cooker. Loads of fun (and I don't game either)

I'm down for dinner. Root canal tomorrow (Wed) but barring any major complication, I intend to be able to ingest things as usual. Coyote/Momo, you guys should/may have my phone number. E-mail the hotmail or call me to confirm a meeting plan/place if you'd like.
I really wish I could go to this and meet some of you...but alas, it's near impossible to do so.

Take pictures and share, please!!
Well, I'm awfully happy that we've actually got people confirming the meet-up dinner. I was getting a little worried. I'll definitely be looking forward to it.
Let me know where and when, and I'll try my doo-diddly-damnedest to get there.

I'll PM Coyote with my cell #.
Coyote's already out there, but does have some limited net access, so I will make sure he gets the number. I tried to call him just now (to see if there were any solid plans and what they were), but he was hanging my art in the artshow, and so couldn't talk. I'll update if I'm able. I'm heading up there at 4am tomorrow morning. Whee.
Momotaro,
If you make it to the artshow on Saturday, I may be hanging around there. Look for the chick in the bright purple corset (and possibly a white jacket) if you don't remember what I look like.
ARGH!

Okay, I just talked to Coyote, and it turns out that he does NOT have internet access, though he allowed me to log in as him and get your number, Kitty.

There are no official plans yet, though we would like to do a dinner on Saturday (start at like 5 or so, maybe?). We'd like to stay close to downtown or at least closeish and on one of the transit lines because their vehicle's parking has been pre-paid and if they can't find a new space after going out, then they forfeit a large chunk o' money.

So, anyone familiar with the area that can make suggestions will be loved and adored forever. Well, at least for five or ten minutes, and if it saves us parking costs by being close-by I'll buy you a beer or something.
Hey, somebody confirm with Logan!
Got some more news. We need to stay pretty close to the hotel and we actually DO need to start by 5:00 because Coyote and some other potential dinner participants need to be back to the con by 7:00 for a panel that they are participating in.

Anyone wanting to give me their phone/cellphone numbers so that we can get in touch once plans solidify can PM me by 7:00 tonight. After that, I can't guarantee I'll be able to check my messages.

For those going to the con, it's the fabled and soon-to-be-infamous Sex and the Con-Goer panel (I personally refer to it as the Sex and the Single Geek panel). It'll be a hoot. It was supposed to be on Friday only, but they surprise-scheduled it for Saturday night as well.
E-mailed my number, and will be home with enough time to be contacted well before 5:00pm.
Well, since no one has chimes in on the dinner plans, the plan will be as follows (yes, it's inconvenient for everyone BUT the ones at A-kon):

Everone interested will meet at the Adam's Mark Hotel downtown at room C1141. That's 1141 in the central tower, starting at 4:30. At 5:00 we will leave the building to go to either the Mexican or the CHinese place across the street - which one to be determined by popular deamand.

I hope that it's downtown doesn't deter anyone from coming, as we really would love to see you all, but since we're unfamiliar with the area, thoi is the best we could do by cellphone and email.

I reccomend that those who can, please ride the public transit or carpool - as parking will be difficult and potentially expensive unless shared.

THose whose numbers we have will be contacted Saturday to confirm and make sure they got the plans. Right now I think that's just Kitty and Gen. Logan

Sorry to interrupt...

I really liked your art Michelle. Have a grand time at dinner and pics please for those of us that can't make it.

Hugs to all.
It was great to see you all this evening.

Everyone was wonderful!
Thanks for the compliment on the art Sister Gracie Lou. Unfortunately, Coyote forgot his camera. And then forgot to TELL me that he forgot it, so I didn't know to bring it. I know some of the other CHUDdites had cameras, but don't remember anyone taking pics of the whole group. Though on of them caught a non-CHUD-friend and I later that eveining.

Had a great time. It was wonderful to see everyone again, and I'm sorry about the difficulty with finding food.

But we had Piiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeee, didn't we, Kitty?

Anyone who got pics, please speak up!

Lovely, lovely pie.

It was great to see you guys again. We had a good time.

And I amaze myself at the ability to get so easily lost in my own town, though.
Ok, I can see I'm going to get flack for not snapping up some pics when I should have. Shame on me!!

I had planned to take pics after dinner, in the main hallway, but by the time I paid and made my way out there, Kitty had left, along with Seth, whatsherface, Coyote and DarkHedgy, so it was just my crew, D'Kay and Team Logan left. Well, Dave didn't look any different than last year, and I'm not sure Laurie would have even wanted me to take her picture, so I didn't do it. I wanted to ask D'Kay for a quick pic, but her outfit made me forget my own name, much less that I wanted a picture of it so that was out, and hell, just about everybody has seen me in a blue tutu, so a few little chin braids are not going to cut it.

I did happen to get a chance photo of Michelle (DrkHdghg) and a friend out between the buildings, so I can try and post that tomorrow, when I will talk to the guy who can host the pic. I'll even throw one of me on there. I'm sorry for not being more agressive this time. I was just having fun and not really thinking about getting snapshots.

I can't speak for anybody else, but I was great to sit next to D'Kay and Kitty, as they are very no-holds-barred when it comes to their speech, which I find very refreshing. DarkHedgehog made the cutest eyes at Coyote all dinner long, and yes, she did get her pie. I only spoke briefly to the girl in the red dress, and didn't really get a chance to talk to Seth, D'Kay's brother. But he seemed a nice enough guy, and I'm sure he had fun too.

I hope nobody minded me bringing none-Chud people to this, but they had a blast, and I think they were a little smitten with the women we shared a table with. Hopefully, everybody can make it again next year. ChudMidwest is shaping up very nicely...
Momo,

I for one had NO problems with the non-CHUD people, but then again, I'm hardly more than a lurker myself these days, mostly because I can only access from work (my home computer is so out of date that I can't even install a high-enough version of either netscape or IE to even read my email). And therefore can't access the really fun forums hardly at all.

Sorry we bugged out so fast, Coyote and D'kay had to be on a panel immediately following dinner. To their credit, the panel turned out to be really great, and they were funny as hell on it.
I also had no problem with the Non-CHUDDERS.
I would mention that the panel was "Sex & Fandom", run by Hastur, but that would get the thread moved to the Sex Forum.

The girl in the red dress is Anaka/Michelle, who may be visiting chud in the future...so we brought non-CHUD folks too

The next night, I ate dinner at Kobe Steakhouse next to a couple who act like Hedie and I....I got to see what it looks like.
The above was left by Coyote, not Hedgie. Same computer, diff logins. Oops.

Non Chudders

It would seem that our dinner sparked at least this non-chudder to check out the message board. Momotaro speaks of this group often, so I thought I'd check you guys out. I had met Mz. D'kay briefly the year before. In fact I have a picture of her costume somewhere. She sort of leaves an impression ( I should clarify that it was a good impression). This year you all left an impression and I enjoyed myself greatly, including the pre-dinner tour of downtown Dallas and the lesson in human food allergies. Thanks for the memories.
Welcome, dear.

Glad to have met you.
For the record, "mwest" or "Michael" as you may know him, was the one sitting between me and Dave. Smitty was the one between D'Kay and Kitty.

Glad to have you on board. Now, you are an offical 'Chewer'!

Yeah, I kinda got the the short end of the stick on the seating arrangements...
Hey, I look dead sexy in a pvc tube top. I just need a bottle of talc and a team of fat women to help me into it.
I'd pay money to see that...

Explain it to me though... we all go to dinner and the two married guys snag the seats next to D'kay... Just as well as I guess, she's way to much woman for me
