Best Movie Themed Costumes You've Seen

Because it's four in the fucking morning and I'm bored.

Last Halloween, my friends and I went to this party. I went as Bullseye (Bendis/Farrell style, because my attempt to be Spider Jerusalem earlier in the week failed miserably), and my friends went as Brodie Bruce, Donnie Darko, Margo Tenenbaum (complete with wooden finger), Rogue (Paquin style), and the dead girl from Mystic River (complete with gunshot wound).

It was one of the best groups of costumes I've been a part of. My costume sucked, mind you, but I liked the other ones.

What are some of the more creative or interestingly themed movie costumes you've seen, either at a convention or at a party or wherever?

I saw this one dude at Megacon dressed as Hicks from Aliens, complete with Plasma Rifle. A very good costume, and a refreshing break from all the fat cosplayers that were there.

Gandalf the Grey appearing when we first saw FOTR. A great costume, only beat by the one in the movie....a nice big brimmed grey hat, the wooden staff that didn't look at all like a broomstick, and the beard. Whoever that was made a few kids happy.

I was at a Halloween party and one of my friends came as Jack Skellington. He had the weird pinstriped suit, the bat-shaped bow-tie, and his face was painted milk white with a skeleton smile. That was all good and well, but what really made it so cool was that he was one of the skinniest people I've known (he's not anorexic, just thin), and when he walked in everyone just went "That's very you."

There was a comic con at A&M earlier this year that had a costume contest, and a group of girls made a gigantic Jabba the Hutt that one of them would crawl into and operate. It was on wheels under the costumes, had a working mouth, a tongue and even a tail that flopped around. It was pretty surreal to see that thing moving around. The girls that weren't operating the costume were dressed up like his dance slaves. Pretty cool sight.

IN kindergarten and first grade I used to dress up as Fat Albert for halloween, and I'm white, my mother didn't lather me with brown face paint, but I still had the chops and the clothes to pull it off, too bad I don't have pictures, 3rd grade saw me as a fantastic rendition of Pippi Longstocking, with Mr. Nillson on my shoulders and pointy pigtails, it was fantastic.

Seen at the bars in Milwaukee a few years back: two guys dressed up as an AT-AT.

They had supports under them so they towered over everyone, plus apparently a battery of some sort which lit up the gun turrets. Presumably, they couldn't see a thing, and they had a damn hard time fitting through the doors at one bar where we saw them. Amazing detail on these things.

This past halloween I was in a pretty good group. I went as Ed Norton at the end of Fight Club complete with 1888 Franklin St. portfolio. My friend Jon was the most amazing Raoul Duke I will ever see, Sam was Pagoda from Royal Tenenbaums and our friend Maggie was Margot (again, complete with wooden finger). To top it off, my oafish friend Taylor was born to be Frankenstein's monster (he actually won a costume contest) and his friend Joe was Sid Vicious. We had quite the crew, I can't wait for this year.

This past Halloween my sister went as the Bride in Kill Bill. She found a yellow tracksuit on eBay (not bright yellow, but good enough), doused it with fake blood, and borrowed her friend's samurai sword. At the time her hair was all one length and she actually cut bangs into her own hair to look more like Uma. It was a pretty kickass costume. I used to have a picture but I might have lost it.

When I was in ninth grade four of my friends dressed up as Alex and his droogs from A Clockwork Orange. Halloween happened to be on the same day as my school's Homecoming and they went to the football game dressed like that. They stood out quite a bit from all the people in their suits and dresses.

last Halloween we went to a costume party at a bar and I saw a guy dressed as bluntman and he looked a lot like Kevin Smith. I have a picture, but I don't know how to post them...so....

I went as Nick from The Deer Hunter. complete with bullet-hole and brains coming out of the red bandana.
My friend went as Raoul Duke and my other buddy went as his attorney. They looked pretty funny.

Two years ago my sister (who was then three), dressed up as Thing 2 from the "The Cat and The Hat" (the book, not the dreadful movie) and her mother (my stepmother) dressed as the Cat. She had the blue afro-like wig on, red pajama suit, and they had even made the number 2 logo out of a kind of felt. It was very good. However, last October my sister (now five) dressed up as Belle from Disney's Beauty & The Beast. She was asked in late-August what she wanted to be and that was her answer, actually, she wanted to have the same exact gown that Belle wears during the grand ballroom scene. So, her mother and grandmother began corresponding over the telephone on how they were going to do this, but then her mother was put into the hospital because she was having pregnancy difficulties. Well, her grandmother flew out and every morning, for the next two months, they sewed the costume by hand, and what needed to be done by machine was accomplished by her grandmother. My brother was born six days before Halloween and the costume was finished and let me tell you all, it looked exactly like the one in the film. The ruffles were all in place; the yellow fabric had the same sheen and glimmer-effect from the film; it hung exactly right and was a really beautifully made dress, whether or not it was an homage. Sometime I'll have to take some photos of her in the dress (she still wears it around the house, usually on weekends) and post'em here because it's worth seeing.

I've never seen any adult costumes (in person) that I thought were showstoppers or even creative and partly this is because I've yet to attend a Halloween party, but if I did, and I had a girlfriend, I'd nudge her to dress as Hannie Caulder: http://www.alex-in-wonderland.com/Gi...quelWelch.html or the Kansas City Bomber: http://data.moviecovers.com/DATA/zip...Y%20BOMBER.jpg
