Whose Your Favorite Sportswriter?

Mine? Bill Simmons, and it's not even close. From his 13 levels of losing, to him paying homage to cyber-Bo in his Totally wired for Madden '03 column. He's one of the very few sportswriters I actually look forward to.

Simmons for me too.

Probably Dave Kindred as far as weekly columnists go.

Jim Street does good work for the Mariners.

Ralph Wiley.

I'd read that guy if he wrote about cutting grass.

I got to agree with the Simmons, he has a right mix of pop culture in his articles. I also like Eric Neel and Jim Caple on ESPN page 2. The whole site is solid. There's this boxing writer, Martin Mulcahey, he's pretty good. And I always read Rick Reilly's piece when I take look at a Sports Illustrated.

Bill Simmons, Gregg Easterbrook and Ralph Wiley are all very enjoyable reads. I read anything new they write.

Easterbrook is solid.

Ray Ratto in S.F. writes very well.

Umm...and me.

I'll second Easterbrook (I LOVE TMQ) but Ralph Wiley is like a dick in the eye - makes some good points, but how about writing in fucking ENGLISH.

Mike Lupica
Ouch. I ususally feel like Lupica needs his head twisted off counter-clockwise and then shoved into the stomach of a dead yak, which is then placed into a pit filled with ravenous hyenas....
but other times, he's got some good points....

To stick with the online scribes (Yeah, I know Simmons does stuff for ESPN The Magazine, but I don't touch that publication), I really dig Aaron Gleeman's blog, and the nice little Mets blogging community that's sprouted up in recent years.

And in other news, apparently Rob Neyer's columns will soon be ESPN Insider only.
If Neyer goes Insider only, I will quit checking ESPN. That would sorely piss me off.

Simmons -- The Sportswriting Jesus.

Mariotti -- Dumb shit.

Lupica -- Cockass.

But the worst of them all is Mitch Albom. I swear I want to bash his smug face in with a ballpeen hammer every time he opens his mouth. What an arrognat prick.

To continue on the Rob Neyer bit:
Quote:
ESPN.com - MLB - Neyer: A K.C. Keeper
Beginning June 14, you can read Rob Neyer's column four times a week as part of ESPN Insider. You will find Rob's insights at MLB Insider, as well as peppered throughout ESPN.com's baseball coverage.
A shame, really.
