Yawn, the cover looks dull.

So they chose to have AVP plastered all over their 25th Ann. issue? Sheesh!
The top 25 fright flicks and all those guest writers should be cool.
Looks like the alien is singing karaoke and the predator is ashamed to be sitting netx to it
post #5 of 24
Either that ot they're at a bar and the Alien can't handle his liquor.
Do we have to have this argument every time? They're a big magazine with big money to make in order to stay big, so they have to have mass appeal. Don't let it bother you so much.

Could someone please photoshop this to put a pint in the Alien's claw? Please?

Why is spiderman in Fango? Why??
"Spiderman" is covered in Fangoria because it's essentially a corporate minded magazine. While I think it is a good magazine because of editor Tony Timpone's and some of the writer's love for the genre, they cater too much to big studios/companies and their big products. I understand some people's pain when they see non-genre stuff like "Spiderman" covered in Fangoria. It is the feeling that the magazine could be really great . . . but that it isn't.

I enjoy Fangoria quite a lot. For this issue, though, I expected a much cooler cover. Maybe it's because I'm really not excited about AVP, but that just doesn't work for me. As for Fango covering movies like Spiderman 2, they do need to get more than just the avid horror fan to buy the magazine. I understand that people would want the mag to just stay with one niche, but in today's market, that is impossible. I would rather have a magazine that covers mostly horror movies and a few big budget productions than one that covers nothing but big budget productions.

Looks more like the latest cover of Starlog than Fango to me...AVP,Spiderman?.
Doesn't upset me nearly as much as Vampire Sammy Mathis on last months.

However...why are they covering AVP now and not in August?

We should be thankful they didn't slap his goofy mug on the cover instead of AvsP. They're probaly saving the SPIDY 2 cover story for next issue ... *shudder* ... Can't say I care much either way. I stopped buying Fango years ago and only pick up the odd issue here and there when they're covering a film I'm particularily excited about. IIRC the last one I bought was the one with Smiling Jack Ruby's KING OF THE ANTS article. For everything else the Corner is more than sufficient (and doesn't set me back $18 every month, which is what Fango retails for here).

$18.00, Wetbones??? Damn, and I was bitching about $8-9 an issue.

Oh well, I'm kinda stuck with it - I subscribed the other week when I moved.

They are still a great horror mag, all discrepencies aside.

Yes, but that was a while ago, before the US economy started to go into recession and the dollar-euro exchange rate changed quite significantly. It may be a little cheaper these days but probably not by much. I once inquired about why it's so friggin expensive and they explained that it's basically a huge company importing all kinds of magas from all around the world and then selling them to stores. So it's probably said large company that made all the profit and not Fango.

I miss the old days of splatter fest covers. Back in the eighties there was never a shortage of gory horror flicks to show off. I had fold out posters from Motel Hell, Reanimator, Hellraiser, Phantasm and many others thanks to this magazine when I was a kid!

Not yet, we don't...

I bought the first issue of fango

when I was a kid and they had a godzilla 25 year retrospective. Looks like they hava a 50 year one in this issue. I think I still have that issue at my parents house in AZ. Think its worth anything?

In Fangoria's defense they know an Alien vs. Predator cover will sell, and that particular weirdo photo may have been the best one Fox was willing to offer them. It looks to me like the Alien is trying to prison rape the romantically reluctant Predator.

Looks like they are dancing!
Must be boogying down to some Bon Jovi!

I wonder if the mag will reveal if the movie will be R or PG-13 (please god not PG-13)
Ill buy it for the Alien vs Predator stuff, and the Godzilla at 50 bit.

Nice to see a Fango cover not based around gore. The gore covers usually seal the deal the cover price of the mag starts and I go buy Toyfare or Star Wars Insider instead...

This shit wouldn't happen if GOREZONE was still around...

In defense of Fango, they had a couple of cool gory covers in the last 2-3 years but that has been the exception, sadly. There was one for DAGON that was rather gross and the one for HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES was also pretty badass.

And I gotta say the AvsP stuff on their 25 anniversary cover is not half as bad as fucking VALENTINE (!!!!!!) on their 200th issue's cover ...

At least we have Rue Morgue. Not that this cover would stop me from buying Fango anyway. It's what's on the inside that counts. At least that's what my momma always told me.
