Monster squad on dvd

Does anyone know if we will ever see The Monster Squad on dvd?

I wish I knew. At one time, there was an announcement on some site that said it was coming out.
I HOPE it does. I had sent an email a couple of years ago to Anchor Bay to see if they could get the rights. The studio that produced it is not around anymore I don't think. I hope someone scoops this up and realizes it's baby boomer potential.
I know PLENTY of people that remember it and I am one that has been an obsessed fan of this film ever since it came out in 87' and I was in junior high school.
I hope someone might have an answer for us on here.
You know it was posted on here that Percepto Records might be releasing the score to the film on dvd soon. The announcement was vague on whether or not FOR SURE it was The Monster Squad, but we can hope and pray.
As far as right now, the only dvds are the ones that are bootlegged off ebay. My vhs copy is going bad so I might have to fork over some dough for one of those half-ass copies. Most of them are only full screen.
Oh well...keeping the faith here.

Last I heard, I think it was Ryan who was deeply embroiled in a grass-roots effort to get this gem released on DVD.

Rumours abound, however...

Pacific Family Entertainment owns the rights. Tiny little compnay out of Irvine, CA... (These guys even claim to be releasing it...)

Check this out, fearless reader...

Pacific Family Entertainment (PFE) has released "The Monster Squad" and "Night of the Comet" on both DVD and VHS. They are in major stores nation wide. Because of contracts with PFE's marketing companies, the titles must be in retail outlets first.
This email was received from someone back in November of last year. So, does anyone really have any idea?

THAT'S what I had heard before!!!!!!!!!!
I went to that company's website and was NOT impressed. Pilates dvds and Family films. Who knows where our beloved movie will end up?
I just hope some company honcho realizes it's potential and gets the thing released.
There are some RABID fans out there. Just look on the internet.

I watched this again last week. Wow. Absolute shit. There are two or three good lines, but it's amazing how much our childhood and nostalgia can fuck up our perception. If you saw it today for the first time you would HATE it.

That's bullshit. Watched it last week my ownself and still love it.

It helps if you have knowledge of or at least an appreciation for the Universal monsters.

This is what VAN HELSING should have been unlike the steaming pile of shit playing in theaters now.

I would love to see this on DVD one day. If it were to happen, though, would we even get a good edition? The company with the rights doesn't seem to really have a lot of money, so I don't know if they could pull off a good edition. Would we even get widescreen?

Pacific Family Entertainment does NOT have the current DVD release rights, no matter what they say, for Monster Squad or Night of the Comet.

They were in negotiations to secure the rights, and then jumped the gun and ran their mouths about releasing the movies.

Then the deal supposedly fell through.

Want these movies?

Go to ebay and get a DVD-R of a Japanese print.

I got a great Monster Squad DVD - widescreen, with Japanese subtitles in the bottom letterboxing, included the trailer also.
