The coolest Freddy...ever?

Butane, you know I can easily pick up the phone and gripe to you about your opinion (which I do often, I know), but I had to voice my latest disagreement out on the boards...you say this is the coolest Freddy design ever?

You really think so? The hat was cool, the jacket was fuckin' killer, but that glove was rubbery ass. The face was a unique twist, don't get me wrong. But how can you deny the makeup from parts one through three, I ask! How?!

The mechanical hand at the beginning of new nightmare kicked ass. Not Freddy I know but still scared the shit out of me when it jumped to life, even though I knew it was going to happen.

Gotta' agree with Butane, Cap'n. New Nightmare Freddy is hot as love.
I agree with Butane aswell. Also the Abonibal poster was kind of cool, the floating heads kind of ruined it though.

I've got to agree with Butane on this one. I always thought that the mythic Freddy was the coolest design from the series.

Having been a die-hard Freddy fan all those years I can say that my fav make-up is the one from Nightmare 4. Nightmare 3's got too many small holes and details, it makes him look like a disgusting pizza; number 5 and 6 sometimes makes his jaw look too square. Number 1 and 2, if I remember correctly, are very similar to 4 but we don't get to see him as much or not in broad daylight sp it's harder to tell.
As for New Nightmare... the clothes are cool but I've never really liked the make-up. It looks more like he's been skinned than burnt.

I gotta go with the New Nightmare Freddy also. The jacket and new claws are way cooler than Classic Krueger.

Bah, I hate Freddy. Why oh WHY didn't my boy Voorhees stick that fucker's head in a Cuisinart or something?
Nightmare 4 Freddy is the best. But New Nightmare is the coolest.

Tis the coat...
Yep, I've always thought that. The other Freddies are fine, they're nice and slim and fit and whatever, but the New Nighrmare one was just BIG and evil. Silent (mostly) and a lot more horrific than the previous incarnations.

Like HAM said, hot as love.

'Cuz your boy Voorhees was too busy crying because Mommy scolded him

Hey! I heard Sideshow was doing a NN Freddy but I hadn't seen pics yet! Thanks guys!
take the cool hat and trenchcoat off of NN freddy, slap it over the more horribly burnt and realistic looking Original freddy makeup.. and make a totally new glove.. a blend of NN and original.. and you have the best

i cant pick one or the other.. i like classic makeup, but the keen fashion sense of NN... *shrug*

Hehe, now Pamela Voorhees -- SHE could make that pathetic excuse for a Hollywood junket Krueger squeal like a skinned sow. For starters, she could throw him off by doing her Larry King impersonation, and make that schmuck Freddy think he was getting airtime on CNN...

Then what separates him from any other run-of-the-mill slasher brute?

I'm surprised by all the love for the New Nightmare Fred, really. Didn't know there were that many fans. I thought the design was refreshing but there's something about the scrawny, burned...yet fatal...dirty man look that really scared the crap out of me as a kid.

I'm with Rotten. Take the NN Freddy, give him his hand+glove back, and burn his face PROPERLY, and you have a mean mutha. As it is, he looks like a fucking anime villain with that hand.

I do like the size, attitude, and clothes tho. Just give him his stuff back.

[edit:] For full disclosure: I was hooked on nightmare with the worshop scene in 1. The making of that claw made me *cringe*, seeing the movie at the age I did. You mess with the hand, you mess with the whole series.

"...but that glove was rubbery ass."

I was just about to say.....

Give me the cadaverous, shadowy and largely-unseen Freddy from the first two. He scared the shit out of me as a kid.

No matter how "cool" the later designs got, the one thing they were NOT was "scary."

Freddy does rule, however, the toy, is not that great.
It's likely a rough prototype. Look for a probably more refined version at San Diego Comic Con.

If it's still not good, write to Sideshow and complain. They made drastic changes to their Vampire Willow figure from Buffy after fans raised a stink.

New Nightmare Freddy's face makeup made him too rubbery and fake looking.
I have to agree with a lot of folks that Part 4 Freddy is the best although the Freddy makeup in part 2 scared me the most (besides the horrible acting, script, pool scene, etc.).
New Nightmare Freddy did have the trenchcoat and big black boots going for it. His claw was just damn AWFUL though. Those veiny things look like something that goes to a toy squirt gun, not an evil child-killing weapon.

NN Freddy gets my vote although I think the character is great in every form. Of course i also prefer Uberjason.

I liked the idea of the New Nightmare look. I could see where they were going with it but it just ended up looking too foamy (like 5). Nothing like a burn either but that's not a major issue with me as, being in dreams and all, he could probably change his appearance if he wished.

I loved the make-up in 2 because it looked wet. Like it was seeping. It looked genuinely sore and that just worked for me. I did like the make-up in 3 and 4 too. After that, it just looked like a foam mask with too much distinction between the skin bits and red bits.

But, whatever my thoughts on the NN make-up, I don't think this model has captured the look at all. Not even close.

Dogg.

New Nightmare clothes = Cool

NN makeup = alright, but not Freddy enough (I prefer the classic)

NN glove = "rubbery ass"....absolutely terrible. I did like the prop glove in the beginning though.

I'm with Ryan on this one...

Also I agree with ekm that shadowy, unseen Freddy was much much scarier.
