Has anyone been following this? I'm not a video game player, but I was appalled at last night's feature on these misogynistic, materialistic games being sponsored by MLB and the NBA.
ESPN has done these before. I remember them doing one on Super Nintendo's violent Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball and on Madden where hilariously they show a player getting run over by the ambulance. I could never get into MLB Slugfest and the game seems pretty crap but I laughed at those clips. The kids reaction and comments were sad though.
Wish ESPN would take as hard a look at baseball and could have kept their show Playmakers around and not gotten scared of offending the NFL. Ah the days of 401k's, political correctness and corporate monopolies.
The thing in NBA ballers with buying female "companions" was pretty ludicrous, but I think it is very clear to all gamers that NBA ballers is a shitty NBA street rip off and no one is going to play it anyway.

Actually...NBA Ballers got rave reviews...at least for a game of it's type.
Yeah, the companion bit actually shocked me... but seriously, if there are kids out there trying to mimic the stuff they see in NFL Blitz type games, it's not the games that these parents should be worrying about.

It does present a double standard when the NFL is sanctioning games like NFL Blitz, while levying a fine on Joe Horn for 30K. The game definitely promotes celebrations in excess.
