What the HELL are they thinking?

Sci-Fi is right now showing DAY of the Dead? And then 13 Ghosts? Love them or hate them, neither of these movies belong there in ANY cut form. How much Gore (both of them BEUTIFUL for the gore) will have to be cut? What is the point of not being able to see the angry princess in ANY scene? How much language will have to be ripped out of Day?

Some people have NO clue over at Sci-Fi. We have all known this, now this just reconfirms it.

It's still preferable to yet another of their endlessly retarded creature features, no?

Honestly? No.

Some films deserve top never be cut up. Day is certainly one of them. And as for the new 13th ghost... whether you love or hate it, everyone can at least agree the creature effects and the gore were superb, and that is the one aspect of the film that should never be removed.

Great big dittos on that one. I mean, I can see why they show them, they're the only people who would, which means SOMEONE might watch them. But honestly...can they be anything more than extended trailers for the uncut DVD versions?

If Sci-Fi were smart, they'd be chasing down the rights to films and shows they could air without a lot of cutting but that the fanboys want to see. Even newer R-Rated fare like Equilibrium and Below could easily be edited for TV while preserving their inherent charms. Go for the Babylon 5's and the Ultraman's and the Time Tunnels, focus on nostalgia balanced out with original series and films.

Oh, and knock it off with the big snake movies. We get it already, and we don't give a shit.

Bah, Day of the Dead rocks, 13 Ghosts sucks, and I agree that I'd rather see the former not the latter instead of yet another "Omigosh It's A Giant [INSERT ANIMAL SPECIES HERE]" movie. At times I begin to wonder if Sci-Fi is getting ready to merge with Animal Planet or something.

I know what you mean ... But personally I sometimes get a kick out of watching a horror film on TV and laugh at how badly edited it is. My favourite example was this one time when they aired STARSHIP TROOPERS on Austrian National TV (ORF) at 8.15 P.M. Thing is they are only allowed to broadcast films rated 12+ at that time and STARSHIP TROOPERS is rated 18+ so they had to cut it down to a 12+ with absolutely hilarious results! I love the film to death and it sure as hell didn't deserve that treatment but it was still one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Censorship can be really hilarious as long as you have access to uncensored versions ...

We need a good channel for uncut, unedited Horror/Sci Fi flicks. I'm tired of scanning through the week's "Mystery" channel listings to see if an odd good movie slips through the cracks of the endless made for tv detective movies.

Hopefully, that's what we'll get with The Horror Channel this fall. At the chat last week with CEO Nick Psaltos, he once again reaffirmed that the films with be uncut, no question.

We're bitching because horror movies are being played on TV? Regardless of any cut, that puts a smile on my face.

So for once, Sci-Fi channel doesn't play killer animal movies all weekend long.

I watched !3 Ghosts on Sci Fi and they left in most of the gore. The scene where the lawyer gets cut in half was there and it was unedited. Also it showed the Angry Princess they just erased the nipples.

We can't have nipples destroying the moral fibre of todays youth can we?.

I saw that too when it was shown on USA last week. Showing the entire breast is now alright. Just as long as the evil nipples are erased it's okay with the censors. It's a mad world.

The UK Sc-Fi channel is nothing like this...they never cut anything. Shit even Miike's extreme "Visitor Q" was shown uncut!

Even more bizarro, why was Sci-Fi showing the haunting love story WAKING THE DEAD, which has absolutely no sci-fi aspects to speak of?

I once saw the Sci-Fi channel playing Braveheart. I don't know what that has to do with Sci-Fi but at least it didn't have a giant, computer-animated reptile.

Oh geez! WTF is Meet Joe Black doing on Sci-Fi?

Really? That's fucking fantastic.

I didn't catch the chat and was under the impression it would be your standard basic cable channel.

Damn straight!

I'd be happy as hell to see either of those two films being showed on any channel regarless of what they cut. Eventually they will cut less and less and it sounds like they didn't cut much of 13 Ghosts.

Eventually they'd have to realize how much advertising money would be brought in if they showed horror flicks now and then.

Not to defend Sci-Fi (I don't even get the channel anymore)... but I believe they show stuff mostly uncut later in the evenings. For example, I remember watching Return Of The Living Dead on there, and except for Trash's nude scenes and the profanity, it was intact.

....granted, watching a movie with the T&A and language cut out sucks, but at least the gore stayed.

Edit - I haven't had the channel in 6-7 months, so things may have changed since then.
