CHUD Fantasy Football circa 2004 - Page 7

I'm extremely excited as well. This'll be my first of two serpentine drafts. In my big money league, they have one truly screwy player selection method.

Each team starts with $100 and we do an auction for the first three rounds. After each team has three players, we do a regular draft the rest of the way through. The 4th round order is based on leftover auction money, with the team with the most money picking first. It snakes around in the 5th round, and everyone draws random cards to determine the draft order for 6 & 7. The draft order keeps getting randomized every other round until the end.

Needless to say, it's the toughest to prepare for, because of both the random draft placement, and the auction hybrid.

Whoops.

Still, not a bad team. At all. I ended up with quite a few players on my board.

BROADWAY JOEYS

QB- B. Favre, J. Harrington, J. Delhomme
RB- L. Tomlinson, T. Henry, T.J. Duckett
WR- T. Holt, S. Smith, A. Johnson, Rod Smith, Roy Williams
TE- K. Winslow, D. Clark
K- J. Wilkins
D- Carolina

EDIT: Updated, post-trade.

Some guys at work set up a money league and I had my draft tonight, but the points system is SO screwed up that I have no idea whether or not the team I drafted is any good. It's pretty much a TD heavy league (yardage is so minor that it's not worth factoring in) and you only get points if the defense gets a sack or a TD (I hate this). People went RB crazy and I held back trying to suck up big point guys in other positions because after the first round I felt that RB was just going too quickly. So...

QB- Michael Vick, Marc Bulger
WR- Derrick Mason, Randy Moss, Jerry Porter, Anquan Boldin (my last pick in the draft, worth it if he plays half the season)
RB- Marshall Faulk (ugh), Domanick Davis, Quentin Griffin, Julius Jones
TE- Tony Gonzalez
K- Matt Stover
D- Carolina, Pittsburgh

Bulger and Moss are guaranteed TD machines. I don't know about vick's durability.

Unfortunately, your RB list is kidna scant as far as TD production. Davis will provide a bunch this year (or so I am hoping as he is on my team too!) julius jones may get some stolen from him by eddie george though.

Gonzo should get about 10 also, and marshall if healthy could return to some semblance of his previous self about 3 years ago.

As far as my team...I am happy. Lets see how for it takes me.

QB : Daunte Culpepper, marc Bulger
RB: Clinton Portis, Domanick Davis, Julius Jones, Kevin Jones, Steven Jackson (ONE OF THESE ROOKIES WILL DO WELL!!!)
WR: Darrel jackson, Javon Walker, Amani Toomer, reggie wayne, deion branch
TE: Randy McMichael
Kicker: Josh Brown
Def: St. Louis (Lets get those takeaways boys)

i'm pretty pleased with my team as long as westbrook can handle being the main ball carrier. if he hold's up then i should be fine.
qb - gannon, johnson
rb - mcallister, westbrook, suggs, garner (those receptions will help him)
wr - ward, moulds, chambers, burress, fitzgerald, boldin (i love me some recievers!)
te - pollard
k - hanson
d - jags

Sorry I missed the live draft, but I was double booked with a wedding photographer and if I want to watch ANY football this year, I had to go see the photographer.

Still, I ended up with quite a decent team imo

Say Hello to the Magnificent Bastards

QB: Peyton Manning and (good-bye) Josh McCown
RB: L.T. , S. Davis, W. Dunn
WR: C. Rogers, K. Robinson, M. Booker, R. Smith, P. Warrick
TE: T. Gonzalez, D. Clark
K: Akers
Def: TB and SEA

Trades in the works already, look out n00blier league!
Since I did not get a 10th team, I am playing as the 10th team in the newbie league as well as in the big league. I like my newbie team, though

QB: Mike Vick, Jeff Garcia
RBs: Jamal Lewis, Corey Dillon, Justin Fargas (and soon to be Eddie George)
WRs: Laverneus Coles, Jerry Porter, Justin Gage (same three starters as in another league I am in) and Brandon Lloyd
TE's: Jeremy Shocky and L.J. Smith
K: Mike Vanderjagt and Adam Viniteri
Def: Cowboys

so, I got my number three QB, two of my top 10 RBs and one of my main sleepers (Fargis), two of my second tier favs at WR and another of my sleepers (Gage), my number three tight end, number one kicker and favorite defense. I am very happy - except I wish I had better depth at RB.

ya starving i was quite impressed with your pre rank as the draft progressed. You made some smart moves.

lets see how it turns out.

As far as my team, I could use a true stud WR. I am open to any and all trades, but if you want portis, its gonna have to be a damn good deal.

Oooh, don't tease me with Portis. Looking at your team, I think you already have a nice receiving corp. Randy Moss would put you over the top.

Trade proposed, Fazers.

I think we need separate threads for each league. I thought I had misssed the draft there for a minute.

Yeah, we need a Newbie SmackTalker 5000 thread.

Thank joss I'm able to get my internet up and running again. Yahoo can't pick for shit.

Jamal Lewis at 10-like Kobe he ain't going to jail. That is a steal.
I'm not as bullish on Jamal, Anya. Unlike Kobe and OJ, Jamal is going to trial in federal court, which has a much higher conviction rate than state courts do. I saw a stat that set the conviction rate at 95% when the case goes to federal drug court. Granted, I'm almost sure that percentage includes plea bargaining, but it's still no cakewalk for him.

I think Lewis' case is less like Kobe's and more like Martha's.
I haven't followed the case much but from what i remember the drug thing was a few years old and iffy at best. Either way Jamal's lawyers are smart enough not to let him do jail time.

The league was more RB heavy even than many I've been in. Rudi freaking Johnson went round 2, it was insanity. So I was trying to plug other holes quickly. Because it was so TD heavy, I actually devalued the RB position a little bit (while RB scores more TD, the difference in TDs scored from the best to the middle of the pack RB is actually very little, as long as you throw out Priest Holmes who I had no shot at). My goal was to snatch up Moss because of the large TD gap between himself and the #2 WR and Gonzalez because of the large gap between him and ANY other TE. At QB I snatched Vick ahead of Bulger because rushing TDs are 6 while throwing TDs are 4. Because of that, Vick has a very good shot at being an amazing fantasy QB even if he ends up a mediocre real life QB. When Bulger was available later than I would have imagined, I took the easy insurance.
Faulk hurt me to take, but even if he plays 10 games he'll probably have more TD than any other RB on my squad. I'm a little worried about Domanick Davis losing goal-line carries, but I think Griffin is a fine no-name pick. Julius Jones doesn't need to worry about Eddie George, but I'm still not sold on him. RB is definitely shaky.

If you've already joined the league, just login to Yahoo! and click on "Fantasy". The league will be listed.

Like I said Gist in the reply, you already made some interesting moves trading down for LT. I think I see what you are trying to do with your team and I like it. But there is no way in hell, even for Holt I could let you have LT and Portis. That would just be suicide for me and it would also make you too large of a powerhouse in the league, and I can't be responsible for that.

Damn you and your logic.

I'm completely happy with Holt and Henry...with Holt I'm pretty stacked at the wideouts and I think Henry is going to produce while McGahee fails to live up to media hype...that said, it was worth a shot!

It's not because you didn't have someone who didn't want to play though.

Ah, fuck it, I'm in enough leagues as it is.

My situation exactly. Six is enough, seven is just too much...

And it seems like I have Quentin Griffin in all of them. Man I hope he lasts the season.
Are we still going to have the Ultimate Champion? The top 2 teams to face eachother? And will we jst take Week 16 stats or have it week 17 and hope the top players in the game don't sit?

Just pick up Tatum Bell if so. I doubt many people have him on their teams and I think he'll be a capable No.2 in that system provided he can hold onto the ball.
i have clinton portis on EVERY SINGLE one of my 5 ff teams. That is ludicrous, but thats just where my draft position was every time. I really hope he thrives in the joe gibb system and more importantly stays healthy.
