Whatever happened to Alien 5 & 6?

As I recall 5 was to take place on Earth and 6 would have people from Earth going out to destroy aliens on other planets (or something like that); both were to have Ripley back.

Are they waiting to see how AvP does first?

No one happens to have any current news on this do they?

I bet if AVP hits we will see new films in both franchises. But...I actually think Alien 5 is the more of a question mark of the two to get a new movie unless Ridley or Cameron is involved. There just seems to be more room for new stories with the Predator characters. But...I would not mind seeing a new individual movie with either monster. Though for my money Predator is better than any of the Alien movies, so....

cant anything die gracefully these days? must we milk franchises till they dry out and still continue to crush them into the ground in a desperate search for one more drop...

nothing they make will compare to the highlights of either series.. maybe not even the lowpoints... i would be happier if neither franchise was exhumed... just look at Alien Resurrection..

In the commentary track on the Alien speacial edition DVD Ridley Scott said that he was interested in making another Alien film.

Predator is one of the best monster movies ever created. I'd say it's on par with Aliens. Definitely McTiernan's best.

This movie has Jesse Ventura with a minigun for Christ's sakes...

I guess I'm one of the few that like Alien 3 and think Predator 2 is better than the first one. I don't care how many sequels they make. As long as they are good I'll watch them.

I'm not looking forward to AvP, but I do have to share the enthusiasm for the PREDATOR films. And 2 is a lot better than many think it is. PREDATOR next to LEBOWSKI has to be the most quotable film ever.

I was gonna say the same thing, but might as well give you credit for it.

I liked the first Predator, but I LOVE Predator 2, just plainly kicked ass in my opinion, and in the end with all the other Predators on the ship, I seriously thought Glover was done for!!!

Alien 3 was surprisingly good, in my opinion. It didn't exceed Aliens, but no film in the franchise can compare to that CLASSIC.

It's like comparing 'Black Hawk Down' to 'Commando'.
