ROADSHOW OF THE LIVING DEAD
WITH GEORGE ROMERO LIVE IN PERSON!
Well you axed for it, you got it. The venerable GEORGE
ROMERO LIVE IN PERSON for an all-night Rolling
Roadshow Romero-thon! Here to present some of his
finest works -- including NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD,
DAY OF THE DEAD, MARTIN and THE CRAZIES -- George will
be conducting an extensive Q&A and signing autographs
like a madman.
NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD
It wasn't the first zombie film ever, but damn if it
wasn't the most important. With its explicit violence,
black protagonist and cynical message, it ensured the
paranoid sleeplessness of an entire nation. It also
proved to aspiring directors that making an important
and successful film wasn't dependent on studio
backing.
DAY OF THE DEAD
28 Days Later directly lifted its whole military
horror motif (as well as trainable zombie) from
Romero's third installment of the seminal zombie
trilogy. A frightening view of a fascistic future
enabled by the zombie apocalypse, DAY OF THE DEAD was
indeed the darkest day the world had ever known.
MARTIN
Romero's dark tale of an alienated, lonely teenager
convinced he's a vampire is psychological horror at
its most tender and perverse. It also cemented John
Amplas' status as every female horror fan's lovin'
knife.
THE CRAZIES
Romero's underrated paranoiac bio-horror further
examines his recurring themes of explosive group
dynamics, deadly contagion and the disintegration of
American society. And it stars Lynn Lowry, for god's
sake. (Kier-La Janisse)
