Jeopardy

anyone else watching this guy Ken win everyfreakin day on Jeopardy.

I keep wishing evil upon him and yet he continues to win. Is this guy a robot?

his winning streak reminds me of the autistic snoop dog guy from wheel of fortune about 10 years ago.

They moved Jeopardy in the Atlanta market to four in the damn afternoon. I haven't seen it in months. Always a fun way to keep the ol' noggin' cranking.

Re: Jeopardy

I'm rooting for him. I wanna see how long he keeps going. I don't even think he's gotten close to losing yet.

It's funny, though. This guy's answered dozens of relatively hard questions by himself over 9 days and is just up to $300K. But on Millionaire, just 12 questions, the first 5 of them are retard-easy, with help, and you're already there...

well I've seen one person get close to him but the final jeopardy question was so easy that there really wasn't much of a chance of Ken missing the question.

ultimately that seems it will be the only way he will lose.. if he misses the final jeopardy question (bets a lot of money) and someone else gets it right.
I think he has a great personality, so many of the winners are stiff robots, this guy actually isn't.

Rooting for him as well, I've actually beaten him at final jeopardy though! a few weeks ago there was a question that read something like 'this island has the southernmost point of europe'

he guessed what is cyprus, I had what is crete and I won! in my head!

seriously though, the only streak that topped this was some guy earlier this year, who was on a 300,000 type run and he started betting exactly enough to tie the 2nd place guy as long as that guy bet everything. so he kept rewarding the 2nd place people and they came back the next day as co-champions. that was real classy, everyone got paid!
10 day champ now, with 340,000 in winnings. who will beat him?!
Dammit! I'm watching it right now. I never thought a Jeopardy thread would need a spoiler warning. Well, he's already up by $14,000 in Double Jeopardy, so I guess it's not a huge surprise.

I'm rooting for him too. He seems like a nice guy. I remember a few weeks ago there was a woman with no trace of a personality that won a few days in a row. I was worried she was going on a streak like this.

Jeopardy comes on at 6PM here so I rarely miss it. I'm almost Rainman-like if I'm near a TV at 6 and don't get to watch it. I tried out for the college tournament last month but I didn't make it past the written test. I'm planning on trying again next year. I got to meet Jimmy from the Clue Crew though, so the trip wasn't a total loss.

The current champ is a beast, if not a bit corny at times.

I'll be auditioning this coming Monday. Wish me luck, folks!

That's funny because so did I. I always yellout an answer as soon as the Final Jeopardy Category is announced.. not even knowing the clue. and I said Crete to my wife.

after commercial break.. Alex gives the clue and sure enough I'm thinking.. damn I really think it IS Crete. I felt really smart then.

I did this with a friend I'd compete with, and it drove him nuts.

Once they announced the category (American history, or maybe it was Politics), I yelled out, "Who is Hannibal Hamlin?", and the answer was "He was the first Republican vice president."

BAADASSSSS!

Thank God I'm not playing against the current champ. Can you imagine waiting for YEARS to get your shot at Jeopardy, and you end up going up against HIM?!?
This guy's unstoppable! And the fact that he always makes $30k-$40k, which is a very respectable one-day Jeopardy haul.

The only time I ever was able to guess the final answer before seeing the question, the answer was "Kim Philby."

ok.. the fact this guy keeps winning and winning big is really scaring me.

He completely missed final jeopardy today.. but was 25,000 ahead of his opponents.

this guy might get to 500,000.
Yeah, this guy's pretty cool. Gonna suck to see him lose now. Liked his bit tonight about applauding when he sees a movie and they invoke the title.

You also gotta wonder though, how many of the 5 time champs coulda gone on winning streaks this long or longer. But still, Ken manages to have a pretty damn hefty lead most of the time Final Jeopardy rolls around.
Considering how he stumbled a bit in the Jeopardy! round, he definitely kicked ass last night.

And if I saw anyone doing that in a movie, I'd have to hurt them. Ok...ok...I'd at least think very mean thoughts their way.

Ken should have lost tonight and yet he still won. Tonight's game was close but he still found a way to have enough money to secure a victory assuming he got final jeopardy right. (which he did).

*shakes fist at Ken
It's almost comical now.

Not to mention embarrasing.
Like I said, they moved Jeopardy to a shitty timeslot in Atlanta, so I haven't seen it in a while. So have they suspended the 5-day winning rule? How many times has this guy won? What's the deal?
18 days, $600,000+

anyone want to start a pool on when ken will finally lose?!

Jacob, I'm such a dork that, ever since I got my Comcast DVR, I've recorded Jeopardy and watched it when I get home.

I would've bet today was the day (Jeopardy comes on at 11 am in my area). He came REAL close to losing, but ended up winning big because he had to.

I'm betting that he doesn't make it past $750K. His streak will stop next week.

that's so you can pull that trick where you can watch it. Re-watch it with a friend and answer all the questions correctly to impress a lassy. Correct?
I can't believe he didn't go for the one-day record yesterday. Trebek was even goading him on the entire episode. Puss.
what would be awesome, is if he goes out in a classic Cliff Claven, bet everything on final jeopardy, even though you were winning by a ton, but then get the answer wrong.

or even better, write cliff claven as the answer!
No one's answered my questions, dammit!
They have done away with the 5-day limit, I think at the beginning of the year. This current guy is on day 18 and has won almost $600,000.

I don't think you understand how time works, do you EC?

Relevance?
Jacob said that before he got an answer. You quoted him like he said it after he got an answer. I don't even know how you got that mixed up unless time got unstuck with you or something.
But I already answered him earlier in the thread, albeit tersely.

No matter what though, Jacob got his answer and Ken is still too good.
The episodes on now were recorded back in February/March, and Ken is home in Utah now. There are two schools of thought about what happened: he finally lost (meaning no more than 2 months straight), or the show is on hiatus for the summer and he'll be back winning millions of dollars in the fall.
Ken ran away with the show again yesterday. Crazy. And if my math is correct, based on the number of people on the "meet the contestants" page at the official site, he'll win through the rest of the week.

Ken also pulled out his lucky charm yesterday. A Totoro doll he keeps in his pocket.

damn Totoro!! I have a big Totoro in my house.. must start carrying it around work to win big at stuff.
Kenbot is still at it. 26 wins, $870K. Redford is starting the script as I type this.
I wonder if Brainiac will stop at $1million?

This guy is fucking creepy. Put some rock trivia on there, I bet he would get his ass handed to him. That or a catagory called "How to make love to a woman."

HAHA. priceless Zod quote. But I believe he is married, but then again, that doesnt prove anything.
Yeah, he's married, but its still funny. Does'nt look like the type of guy who would know what "clit" was let alone what to do with it.

Motherfucker won again today. $40,000 or some shit. Unstoppable. And he's a fucking Mormon.

I cant believe the morons who play against him do not use any strategy whatsoever.

If I had to go against Ken.. whether I was good at aparticular category or not.. You gotta go backwards on the board. From the $2000 backwards.

Why? there is a chance you can find the Daily Double before Ken does. And that makes a lot of difference.
This guy is gonna reach $1M next week. Unfuckinbelievable.
Kenbot talks with CNN.com.
I wish they'd invite back some of the former Champions to take this dude on.. we had a guy that we played College Bowl with who'd wipe this guy off the floor.. he won his five times and got the forced retirement.
wow...i didnt know they taped ALL 5 episodes in one day. That changes things a lot. Cuz as we all know, contestants are given a list of possible topics to study for. So he must be a speed reader or something and since its all in one day, he must have had all the topics for the whole week's worth of episodes well researched already.

"Pod people...pod people...we are the pod people..."
He topped 972,000 today, Monday 7-12-04, Ken-day 29. He should cross the million dollar mark tomorrow.

Un-fuc-KEN believable.
I'm probably in the minority, but is anyone else bored with Jeopardy! now? I'm happy for the guy, he's a juggernaut and deserves his laurels, but damn, it's no longer fun to watch! I swear even Alex is annoyed with him....but that's probably just my sour grapes talking.
Yeah, I feel sorry for the people who have to play against him. It can't be fun for them. I'm obsessed with seeing how high he can go now. I'll be pissed if I miss the episode where he is defeated. I'm pretty sure they'll need that chess-playing computer from IBM to take down this guy.

I don't know how reliable the informant is but I read at another message board that...SPOILERS...

Ken gets up to at least 47 wins. This guy was at a taping back in March and the announcer mentioned Kenbot was back for his 47th defense.

you have got to be kidding me.

well I thought since he's done so much press this week that he would lose this week. I thought he couldnt do press until he lost.

He's been on Good MOrning America and CBS's morning show today.. Letterman last night.

but maybe that's just because he's about to cross the 1 million mark. Insanity.
