Jeopardy - Page 2

boring? maybe if you watch Jeopardy every day. I watched it every now and then, but now i am hooked. I love it. He came close to being the only one in final jeopardy twice last week, that would be awesome.
Yesterday, he answered the first 10 questions, running two categories.

and Alex is looking like an ass, always trying to egg him on to wager more. glad he doesnt and get greedy.
Came out just over a million in today's show for the 30th win. He turned "Jeopardy" into "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire."

Remember the days where getting a small streak with $50,000+ in winnings was considered really good? Seems so long ago now...
If you want to see if he makes it through the entire week unscathed, just check the Jeopardy website every Monday for the "Meet this week's players" section. If there are only 11 people, Ken sweeps the week AGAIN.
Can you say "$64,000 Question"?

I smell a big, stinky rat.

Couldn't he lose on the last day?

Anywho, today (his 32nd win) was the first time I got a taste of the Ken Jennings Experience, gotta say it was pretty damn entertaining. He was awful charismatic for a Jeopardy contestant, and on these types of shows, dominant players are a breath of fresh air for me.

My favorite one is still that IRS guy on Who Wants to be a Millionaire (spoilers from here on out, do people consider quiz show spoilers actual spoilers?) that used his first life line on the final question to call his dad to tell him that he just won a million dollars, that was some good shit.
Useless trivia: The first Millionaire winner was John Carpenter. I don't remember exactly what the question was but it had something to do with Richard Nixon being on Laugh-In.
I hadn't thought of that, Monk. Curses! My brilliant theory destroyed!
Now that I think about it, is there any way for more than 11 people to ever be on Jeopardy in a week?
Freakin' know-it-all Mormons. Just kidding. This guy is scary good, and I hope he bankrupts the show. You know Alex is up there with his fingers crossed goin, "fuck up! fuck up you pompous a-hole!" He just looks annoyed on every episode now.

Couldn't happen to a nicer know-it-all pompous pinhead.

Hell is other people, and Alex's hell is Ken.
Don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for Ken all the way. I just like to imagine that Alex hates the guy. Ken can be a know it all because, when it comes to Jeopardy, he does. It's fun to imagine that famous people are crazy.
Did you see him on Monday? One of the answers was "Donny Osmond" and Ken said "Who is -- my man! -- Donny Osmond!" I've been laughing all week. Gotta love that Mormon solidarity.

Terrific column about him today from ESPN's Bill Simmons:

Man, I suck. I only got 19 out of the 31 questions right on the Sports Jeopardy challenge.

At least I knew who Urban Shocker was.
Caught the guy on Leno tonight. Apparently tomorrow is the season finale. Somehow I doubt he'll lose...call it a hunch.

Guy seems like a pretty cool geek, they showed him roll through a category on Marvel Comics(how'd I miss that episode?!).

to see him come back for a second season will be quite amusing.

That should give Alex and Ken some time to work on that witty banter! But yes I used to hate Ken.. but now I watch everyday just because he does make Jeopardy exciting.

get this guy a show on GSN already! Hell, have Alex pass the torch to Ken in a couple of years.
He pissed me off yesterday. He already has every other Jeopardy record, why not get the one-day total record out of the way? He's up by $38K and knows the category like the back of his hand. Hell, when Trebek talked with him on Wednesday Ken said the two topics to really study are world capitals and US PRESIDENTS. Dammit, man, bet just $1000 more!
Regarding today's show, all I can say is: About time!

Yeah, the season's ending......
Once again, for those that aren't paying attention...

Ken = Charles Van Doren.

Not that anyone gives a shit.
Wait...what happened. I missed it?
Ken finally stopped being a puss and broke the one day record. He actually beat it BEFORE final Jeopardy, but got one wrong and was $600 behind the record going in.

He won with $75,000.

I'm surprised more people haven't brought up that possibility. Did anyone still give a shit about Jeopardy before they did away with the 5 day rule and this guy started to sweep?
I feel sad for being so jaded. Lance Armstrong on his way to his 6th tour de france and the first thought that crosses my mind...steroids?

Ken Jennings on an amazing streak...fixed?

One would like to think its all natural talent, but I won't rule out the possibility that this is a pseudo-created event by the Jeopardy Producers. Its still pretty unlikely given Jeopardy's filming schedule and the sheer amount of information in Jeopardy and Double Jeopardy.
I too am jaded and maybe off-base, but in the wake of dozens of highly manipulated "reality" shows, I think a hefty amount of skepticism is in order. It seems an odd coincidence that a competitor such as Ken comes along after the win limit has been lifted.

It's also my opinion that most viewers don't really give two hoots, as long as they're being entertained.

KG started off the season with only a $10,000 win.

The questions have definately gotten harder for Ken. But he deserves a beat down for not knowing The American Warewolf in London. I thought his was a cinema fan??

anyway.. this could be another long season with Ken.
the Jenningnator is back to destroy the hopes and dreams of soccer moms who get on to jeopardy thinking it will be an exciting experience compared to the monotony of home life, only to have their asses handed to them by Ken Jennings.
I like Ken and the whole phenomena, but wonder if it continues much longer it'll get really tiresome. The man's scope of knowledge is impressive and amazing to watch, but if this lasts an entire season it'll be ridiculous.

What I really want to know is how they're paying him (installments?) and if this a Robert-Redford Quiz Show ratings conspiracy.
I am pretty sure Merv Griffin has got enough backing to drop a lump some of a Mill and some change on Ken. IN the grand scheme of things, one million dollars really isnt that much anymore. On jeopardy yes, due to the number of days it takes to accumulate that much, but in today's game show/reality show craze its not that much.
I know, but are they really going to wait until he's done winning to pay him? That's what I mean.
They pay you in one lump sum a few weeks after the show. Come to think of it, I forgot if they pay you after the taping or after the actual air date.
Rumored spoilers for Ken Jennings' run on Jeopardy! from Yahoo! News

That article cites a source who claims to know just how long Ken's run will be. Click if you want to know.
yeah, that news story is everywhere now. I hope its not true, leaking something like that is lame. I hope they find the person who did it.
He's showing signs of wear, though. I can't believe he missed "Who is Joseph Conrad?" a few nights ago on Final Jeopardy. Of course, I'm also conveniently leaving out the 60 preceding questions that he dominated in, but one of the challengers had it right. If he would've had at least half of KenJen's total, that would've been his ticket to a tie for 1st.

At this point, beating Jennings would be the ultimate Jeopardy badge of honor.
Man, that's too bad. I was hoping he'd be able to last at least a few weeks into the new season. But I guess he's taken care of for a while, so good for him anyway. It's nice to see intelligence being rewarded.
I just hope the victory of the new champion isn't overshadowed by the defeat of Ken Jennings. Besides, he'll be back for the tournament of champions.
"last a few weeks into the new season"

You've got plenty of time for that. He just had his 41st and this says he lasts 75. Thats 34 episodes, 20 a month...you've got like 7 weeks left! If i did the math right!
Oh, OK. I just skimmed the article when it was up last night, initially it didn't mention when it would air. It had to stop eventaully, I guess. But it kind of sucks that we'll all be expecting it soon.
Does he lose this week or next week?
I don't remember exactly what day he's on but I think he still has about a week and a half to go.
They're promoting their new College Games, which start next Wednesday.

So I'd assume he loses before that.
The new cnn.com article says he's been on 66 shows. So if he does lose on show 75 he has nine games left. Assuming the College Tournament will be five episodes, his last episode should air on November 23.
Gotta love the new geek influx. During one of the College tournament quarterfinal matches, one stoner/WB teen type guy just crushed the competition, and locked up the game before Final Jeopardy.

He guessed it right and wagered 1337. Hackerspeak annoys me, but seeing it on Jeopardy was hilarious.
Ken's now up to 73 wins. If the rumors are true, Wednesday should be the fun day to watch. Also, you used to be able to tell if Ken would win through Thursday of that week by looking at the number of the week's contestants on the official site. If there were 10 players listed, Ken definitely won through Thursday. 11 or more would mean he lost. Now, I can't find a link for this week's players. I wonder why.
this ho bag is still on? jeez. Im over him already.
God, what I wouldn't give to have an SNL sketch with Will Ferrell ripping into Ken.
Wednesday? I heard on a local morning radio show that it was airing TONIGHT.

**********SPOILERS***********

They also played an audio clip of Final Jeopardy. The lady who beat him got the answer right, and when Ken's answer was wrong, there were sounds of shock from the audience.

Yeah, word on the street is that Kenbot goes down tonight.

SPOILERS

And the Final Jeopardy question he gets wrong is totally easy. Assuming this is the real question:

Companies & Corporations:
"Most of this firm's 70,000 seasonal white-collar employees work only 4 months a year."
spoiler - highlight to read

That sounds right. The correct answer was H&R Block. Ken's answer was FedEx
post #99 of 118
h&r block totally missed me...

Who knows if it was a conspiracy. It sure as hell looked real. Ken usually owns the daily doubles, but he lost both of them which really cost him the game.

Hats off to the lady though...she got in where she could and let ken make the mistakes.

The man knows nothing about sports though...Turner Field is an easy one and that was for 2000dollars!!

Also that seinfeld theme in the first round was fun, but jesus thats some hardcore product placement.

I couldnt believe he lost either... but I'm sure he's glad he can go home and relax finally.

I bet the lady who beats him loses today.
