Let's hear the worst video game you've ever bought. You were ashamed to have bought! One you returned.. or one you burned.
for any system.

Abrahm's Battletank for Sega Genesis.

FAERY Tale Sega Genesis

Ninja Kid for NES

I just bought Midnight Club racing for PSII. I got it used for $12. I tried to return it because it sucks, but they wouldn't take it back because I had opened it. I even tried to trade it, but the trade in price was $2.
True Crime. Damn hype, quickly disposed of.
Enter the Matrix

I could'nt even return it because I waited to lang. I just kept hoping "It's going to get better any time now" What a fucking waste of potential.

WHAT!!! That game was amazing, one of the greatest rpg/adventure games of all time. Only now are games being made that give you the freedom and character interaction with NPC that Faery Tale did. Like making sure your character eats well for his long journeys, and having "kindness" points for being good as opposed to going into a town and harassing the bar tender, if you do so he will not sell you anything. Games today claim these are innovations in their games, but Faery Tale was the originator.

Vagrant Story. Everyone raved about it but I could never get into it no matter how hard I tried.
I didn't think Enter the Matrix was terrible, it just got incredibly boring after the initial 'wow' factor of running upto someone and beating the shit out of them wore off.
Ohh! Ohh! I know this!

Either ETM, or Pools of Radiance

Mine would have to be Pit Fighter for SNES. It was fun in the arcade at the time and a friend of mine had it for Genesis and we had a blast playing it. I got t for SNES at full price (with my own dang money)... AND IT SUCKED! Talk about disappointed. I almost cried. But there's a happy ending, I managed to get most of my money back for it and got Super Adventure Island instead, which is still a blast to play.

I'm going to catch shit for this, but Morrowind.

Midnight Club was great when it came out (launch game or very close to it) and MC2 is probably the best console racing game on the market.

I guess I should clarify that I don't think Morrowind is all that bad, you see, I'd say about a 6/10 or so, but I usually have a pretty good video game shit filter, and even though everyone raved about Morrowind and it seemed like something I would like, I bought it and couldn't get into it.

That was a long sentence.
Its ok. I forgive you.
The Last Starfighter on the NES seemed pretty crap then and now.
by far Tomb Raider- Angel of Darkness.....

That game stunk so bad I quit playing Playstation.
Man Jurassic Park for SNES I hated how that T-Rex would come and eat you no matter what if you went too far out on the map.

Anyways. Sherlock Holmes for Sega CD. I bought it for something like 4$ and I still think I got ripped. After that probably WCW wrestling for NES.

Final Fantasy 8

State of Emergency. Fun for 5 seconds - then I wanted my money back

This is exactly the game I was thinking about when I read the thread title. It was even worse because that was back when I had to scrape and save for months to buy a new game, and I was stuck with it if it sucked. Of all the games I could've bought, I had to pick the most repetitive, confusing, ugly game on the shelf.

yeah.. It was one of the first games I ever bought and it sucked so bad.

who would have thought that Kid Nikki would have been the better of the kid ninja games?
Star Wars Rebellion. And Outpost.

SimCopter was a horrible, horrible game, but still fun to screw around with. Grabbing a helicopter and wreaking havoc in your cities was always a blast.

Ever bought is a tough call...

Recently?

Star Wars: Galaxies

Now before I get barraged with hate spam... Lemme 'splain. I had been out of the MMORPG for awhile since Evercrack. I was harrassed into getting this $60 game by some friends who seemed to love it. I played it solid (translated - a couple times a week - I have a wife and kids so gaming time is precious) for about a month. It seemed alright at first...

Then suddenly, game maintenance kicked in. Constant spending for house, vehicle and equipment maintenance. If I didn't dump 20k credits into my house weekly, it seemed, I would start getting spam email in game (which is extremely annoying).

I guess I just don't have the time to devote to such a high maintenance game. After explaining to my wife the process she said, "That sounds like no fun at all!"

Anyway it just wasn't for me.

Now on second thought... Let me add ET: The Extraterrestrial for the Atari 2600. Hells, there is a landfill paved over in New Mexico full of 'em.
Recently would have to be The Thing. Fuck that game. I nearly broke my controller when I got through an impossible mission with one tick of health. When you are that low on health the friggin controller vibrates like a heart. And then I make it to the next level thinking I'd be healed up. But no, there's like 90 blair monsters waiting for me and no heals nearby. Fuck that! I took that fucking game back. Games should be challenging at the most, but fun while it's challenging. This game just pissed me off every time I played it.

Good call, I actually showed up before the store opened and waited for this crap.
Worst game recently? Judge Dredd...DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY FOLKS! Picked it up in the bargain bin and it wasn't even worth the 10euro I paid.

Worst game ever? Not sure...Fighting Vipers for the DC, that was a definate crapfest.
Lionheart and Neverwinter Nights.
"dungeon keeper 2". what the hell (no pun intended) was the friggin' game about?! boy, it blew.

I don't play Multiplayer. Now please explain to me what there is to love in the absolutely soul-sucking experience of Single player NWN.

But yeah, you're entitled to like it, it's just that I'm right and you're wrong
post #38 of 98
Dammit, I hate it when I'm wrong!

I didn't find single-player "soul sucking" in the least. I enjoyed the multiple quests and npc interaction, and the overall story as well. I'd take it over any number of the spiky-haired, big-eyed children's games that pass for rpgs these days.

The subsequent add-ons just added to the story and introduced new gameplay elements, as well as adding more controllable characters.

Of course, I realize one man's game is another man's ipecac.
I know I will be flamed for this but I would have to say Resident Evil II. I heard and read all the hype on these games but I just could not get past those horrible controls. I wanted to like this game so bad but nothing makes up for bad gameplay.
yeah, but I've been playing RPGs since Ultima 6. After all the Ultimas, all the Baldur's Gates, all the Fallouts, Morrowind, Arcanum, all the Avernums, and all the Geneforges, NWN kinda pales. I mean, the whole get 4 animals from 4 corners of the city, oh and thank you for saving the academy oh great Level 1 Hero. Then SoU you have to get FIVE artifacts, which is only appropriate since it's an expansion. I was fully expecting HotU to be about getting 6 whatevers.

NWN did some things well, like the fully 3d, free camera approach, but the overall story kinda sucks, and it's characters' interaction absolutely pales in comparison to any of the games I mentioned early. Plus, I was completely pissed off that you can't have any impact on the world. When you load a new chapter module, only the character information gets passed, so everything you may have done, right or wrong, gets erased. GAH.

Note: I fully understand why someone who is used to, say, FF and all it's pals in the "I can't believe it's not an" RPG genre might find NWN great. I'm just explaining where I come from in this.
Frank, easy solution: get Silent Hill (any of them) No zombies, but more atmosphere and hugely better controls
post #42 of 98
The Crow: City of Angels.

Wow.

Blood Omen 2

Piece of SHITE

I gotta admit, those cartoonish japanese RPGs are pretty fucking gay.

South Park on N64. One of the worst games I've ever played. Except maybe Fester's Quest and Double Dragon 3.
