Armstrong disputes claims in new book
PARIS -- A former staff member on Lance Armstrong's team says in a new book that the cycling great asked her to dispose of used syringes and lend him makeup to conceal needle marks on his arms.

True or not, does anybody even care? I sure don't, I'm just curious as to what everyone else thinks.

Re: L.A. Confidential, the Secrets of Lance Armstrong

It would seem weird to me that no one would find any signs of drug use on him, though...these cyclist guys are tested and prodded about as much as Olympic athletes.

Nobody wants to see him win a 6th Tour so these articles will be coming out to taint him. Could be true but sounds like sour grapes.

Yeah, I care. They are tested and from the article, he is allegedly using a substance that is well known around cycling circles and probably testable. It would be hard to get away with it for so long. His story is a great one and it would be sad to see it clouded by steroids.

The French, particularly, have always had it out for him. I hope it is proven wrong.

Plus, the book's called "L.A. Confidential--The Secrets of Lance Armstrong"...sounds like a lame hack-job just from the title alone. Give me a more serious title...and I'd still say it's likely bullshit. But L.A. Confidential?

Apparently, the accusations are all based on speculation and hearsay. Sounds like a bunch of shit to me, as Armstrong is the most tested athlete on the planet. If they have proof that he's doping, let's see it. Unfortunately for his accusers, there is none.

Armstrong announced that he's suing the authors for libel, as he should.

They've actually warmed up to him lately now that he's made an effort to learn the language and talk to the people.

As for the drug allegations, these guys get tested a lot. I think it's kinda sketchy that he'd win 5 times, be tested every time, and have nothing come out of it.

That's true -- 2 years ago they treated him like crap and ridiculed him over doping allegations. Last year, however, they were all cheering him on.

It'll be interesting to see how they react this year given these new charges. I suspect they will be friendly, however, as he was completely exonerated last time.

I was glued to my set last year on some of those mountain stages...the day he fell, then slipped off his pedal a few min later, then went on to win anyways, so amazing!!

In other words, bring the proof, or shut up...

Amen Southern. It sucks that, after all this guy's been through, people still throw this type of unfounded garbage at him.

And last year's tour was friggin' incredible. Lance cutting through the field and jumping the fence to avoid the massive pileup is one of the most exciting things I've seen in sports in a while.

Did anyone read the Lance Armstrong article is SI this week?

He makes his case pretty well about the French, the doping scandal, and the L.A. Confidential book. Not a bad article, overall. He is someone that deserves a lot more press in America because of everything he has accomplished.

maybe his appearance in Dodgeball will make him more hip for the kids to like.

he really has an amazing story to tell.

and he has Sheryl Crow too. That don't hurt.
