Best Final Fantasy= Final Fantasy 3.........No Not 10

Thread Starter
Before graphics were what they are today games were played based upon their story and gameplay. My friends look no further for the epitome of these than Final Fantsay 3 for the Super Nintendo. Final Fantasy 10 would definitely lose in a fight if it pissed FF3 off. All the characters in FF10 are surfer pussies who parade around in loin cloths and suck each other off. Anywho back to FF3. The characters aren't pussies, the gameplay is challenging but beatable, the story is incredible, the menu is manageable, and i'm not annoyed by the characters, and last but not least I give a damn about the plot and about the main bad guy who is kefka. If u have a super nintendo and didn't play this, please do me a favor and punch yourself in your nuts.

I loved Grand Train spell...

I remeber spending hours in The Velt getting all the diffrent monster spells. Some of the best music in the series also.

7 is still my personal favorite thou.

You mean the one that was FF3 in Japan or the one that was FF3 in America?

I don't even remember the former, but if its the latter I wasn't at all impressed. I got as far as some castle sinking into the sand (or maybe it started to fly?), and it hadn't grabbed me in any way by then. Wasn't it pretty much just a stop-the-evil-empire thing?

Who ever said FF10 was the best FF?

Kefka was the villain of Final Fantasy VI, released in the US as Final Fantasy III. It was later released for the PSone under it's original title.

To make things more confusing, Final Fantasy II in the US was actually Final Fantasy IV.

Man was Final Fantasy VI cracked. Vanish+Doom, Economizers, Genji Gauntlet(s), weapons that had auto-criticals (Illumina), the Atma Weapon... but damn if I didin't get a kick out of it.

Sure, it probably was my favorite traditional Final Fantasy game... but I had more fun with Crystal Chronicles and Tactics.

Final Fantasy VII

The rule tends to be that the first Final Fantasy you ever play is your favourite.

This is true. I've enjoyed all the Final Fantasy's I've played... including FF8, which attracts strong and irrational derision from some fans. FF7 was the first, though, and I've always said it is my favorite.

I didn't really think so. I got started with the original Final Fantasy on NES, and it was amazing for its time, but FFIV and FFVI were so much better (ATB, graphics, story, etc) that it's amazing. Give me FFVI any day of the week over the others.

Final Fantasy 7 : My first and favourite Final fantasy. I think (correct me if I'm wrong) that it had the longest development time of the lot and IMO it's pretty evident.
My rankings:

Final Fantasy 7
Final Fantasy 8
Final Fantasy 6
Final Fantasy 4
Final Fantasy 9
(these are all that I've played bar 10 and X-2, bith of which offend me so much that they aren't even ranked.)

I agree with the topic creator in saying that FFIII is by far the best FF game period.

It was the first FF game that I played (I've played III, VII, VIII, X) and it blows the other games out of the water.

A lot of the "Younger" gamers will say VII, or even X. Most of my early RPG's were on the SNES so I enjoyed those games for the story and music. Graphics are not a big concern for me. But for the younger gamers, they need to have the eye candy in order to enjoy the game.

I'm just glad to have this game and to place it high on the RPG list of favorites in my collection.

Is it correct to rate the Snes and Nes final fantasy in the same category and the Psone and PS2 games? shouldn't some dinstinction be made based on the platforms or 2d/3d?
No distinction should be made. And FF 3 (6) is still the best.

I was about to say, I figure "the first Final Fantasy you ever play is your favourite" works with those that started with FFVI or FFVII.

Distinction? I don't see why, people compare games across platforms all the time.

My first Final Fantasy was the first and I'd definitely have to say FF6 is my favorite. My ranking would be

1. FF6
2. FF9
3. Final Fantasy Tactics
4. FF7
5. FF4
6. FF5
7. FF8
8. FF1
9. FF10
10. FF2 (havn't finished it yet though)
