The reason you don't see anything wrong with the name, Gigolo? I guess you hate the gays too. Homophobe.

I guess that's why I can never get laid. I hate my own kind. **sigh**

Some people cannot grasp the concept of sarcasm. Even if sarcasm is applied unabashedly and thickly.

Pumpkin Eater, I read an article in Rolling Stone a long time ago about this subculture called "Bug Chasing". "Bug Chasing" is where a person purposely seeks out to be infected with AIDS. The population of this subculture is mainly homosexual, but that has to do with nothing. Its just sick that ANYONE would seek this suicidial mission out. This one guy was interviewed and he declared that everyone should "GET AIDS NOW!". That statement struck me with perverse comedy.

Mix that morbid fascination with the admiration of the Jared Fogul South Park episode, and the ungodly hype of Angels in America; and BAM! You have a screen name that pretentiously mocks a bizarre zeitgeist.

I have no hate filled agenda with the name. I don't have a signature with the Ronald Reagan quote, "Those that live in sin, shall die in sin". Which he really said. Its just meant to dish out some thin shock value.

Ironic, isn't it, that the guy being bashed for having a "trollish" name created the least trollish post in the thread. Well played, GAN. Well played indeed.

Well, you're observing nothing then. I'm going to explain this one last time that there is nothing homophobic about my inane screen name by telling you my stance on homosexuality.

Hell, as a hetrosexual male, I applaud other men to be gay. Thats just more cooze for you and me. When Tom Cruise gets a grip on himself and comes out of the closet, I will declare that day to be a holiday just as perverts will celebrate(or if they are truly perverted, mourn) the day that lindsay lohan, the olsen twins, and hilary duff turn eighteen. I think its mother nature's intent for some men to be gay as to decrease overpopulation.

To quote Anthony Burgess: "Its sapiens to be homo".

I find it funny because it is so blatantly sarcastic that it makes me laugh. Pretty much the same way Jim Norton makes me laugh when he tells someone to "trip and fall into a puddle of AIDS". It is funny because it will piss people off that are not PC. It is funny because so many people will be on guard just by seeing the name. Plus, it is just a name. If you cannot get beyond the name then you have bigger problems.

Good show, GET AIDS NOW!

I read your name the first time and thought you would be a Troll. Then I read your post and found out you were not. At that point, it became funny. If you were a troll, I would have been upset because you were a troll not because of some stupid name.

What concerns me more is your bizarre inability to admit that AIDS is not a "homosexual disease". You might as well have been concerned that GAN was making light of the horrible AIDS epidemic in Africa.

I stand by my observation that you're an overreacting weirdo.

Punkin'...

It might be more -telling- that nobody but you suspected he was a homophobe, perhaps?
Gay men remain the highest risk group for AIDS.

Now what concerns me is the way many posters here automatically rallied around a (suspected) homophobe and protected him.

that on its on was far more telling than a suspected anti-homosexul stance of a single poster.

And you know who I'm talking about.
And a guy with 72 posts shouldn't really assume anything about people here who have taken pretty fucking clear stances on homophobes and gay-bashing, and have posted about it on numerous occasions.

GET AIDS NOW was in NO WAY a "suspected homophobe" simply because YOU chose to label him that way.

There are dozens of threads on CHUD where anti-gay opinions have been soundly throttled. Look up Jabba's "Gay = Wrong" thread for just one such example.

Next time think a little bit before having a knee-jerk reaction.

But then it wouldn't be a knee-jerk reaction now, would it?

But AIDS still is very much a gay disease in America. Rates among gay men, especially gay men of color, are escalating.
But for all it really matters when you're talking about someone's handle on a messageboard, it could be a disease that only affects hobos.

AIDS is *not* a "gay" disease. Anymore than diabetes is a "fat" disease.
If you want to get all semantic about it, yes. But gay men are still the highest risk group for AIDS in this country. And for all the PC handwringing in this thread, Gay Mens Health Crisis puts it best: "The history of gay men will forever be intertwined with the history of HIV and AIDS." Generic AIDS jokes - in this country - are gay jokes.
I'd rather just make a gay joke. It's funnier.

and the puritans will forever be intertwined with witch burning.

correlations do not change facts. 'Get Aids Now' is not a slag at anyone in particular.

what was the question again?
A lot of people who read that name felt otherwise.

It's a shitty name at any rate.

I think semantics are very important when it comes to this topic. After all how long did it take to get the government, the US, and the world to move on a disease that potentially anyone could contract, simply because of the perceived notion that HIV was strictly a "gay" disease (thank you Mr. Reagan).

Which is not to say that I deny that gay men are in the highest risk group for HIV or that HIV will forever be intertwined in the gay sub-culture. I just think that labeling HIV as a "gay" disease puts us back in time.

I won't defend the name. Personally, I do think it's kind of a cheap, crass joke.

But I will defend the people that said "what's the big deal?" as not having been "crowding to defend a suspected homophobe". The implication of that statement was pretty harsh, and pretty unnecessary.

And as for the 72 post thing, well, sorry Mr. Singer, I guess I was out having real life experiences. I didn't have time to read up on the veteran posters history.
Well then don't act so surprised when some of us are insulted when you try to label us as homophobes or "homophobe protectors" or whatever.

Is this the place to talk about banning-related happenings?

Just out of curiosity... whatever happened to Cosmoline? The guy was one-note, obsessive, and a little scary, but he was hardly a stupid troll. What'd he do to get deleted from history?

John Kerry came for him, didn't he?

Funny, even after someone already pointed out how hypocritical it is, you STILL have a signature calling French people pussies. Way to go you shit-licking prick.

Ooh, you're a hero now. I get it.

Christ, what an ego.
Calling a French person a pussy in the way that your signature illustrates is a socio-racial (is that a real word?) stereotype. It's like referring to all Germans as Nazis. In my mind, that's every bit as deprecating and harmful as getting called a "******". Your definition of "hate speech" is fucked up, my friend.

Hmm...on another MB I frequent, we have an activity known as "fishing" - and either Pumpkin is a clown, or he's hooked the lot of you.

I'd hope for the latter, but I'm afraid it's the former.
I love the twisted logic here, you cannot on one hand have a go at someone for a username while at the same time insult a whole nation in your sig.

It really doesnt matter who the insult is directed at its still an insult, saying all French people are pussies is just as bad as saying something bad about gay people.

The biggest laugh about your defense is that there are gay people in France ergo you are insulting gay people (the people yo are standing up for) as well.

As much as I've enjoyed the vast collection of SP aliases (and outright SP people...kudos) here wasting their time, it's all over.
