Gamecube

I just picked up a Gamecube at the local Target for roughly 70 dollars.

For those Nintendo fans out there, I ask this. What are the gaming highlights of this system?

Name any five games that I should pick up for my new purchase and why.

Metroid Prime
Zelda:Wind Waker
Eternal Darkness
Viewtiful Joe
Resident Evil REmake

The best reason to own this system has yet to come out...

RESIDENT EVIL 4 will be released this Fall.

I'd add Super Smash Bros. Melee and Mario Kart: Double Dash.

If you are just getting a Gamecube, you should get the set with the Zelda Collector's Edition. It's got the NES and N64 Zelda's in one pack.

F-Zero
Metal Gear-Twin Snakes
Mario Sunshine

and all the above suggestions

Where can I find the Zelda pack of games?

I've heard of it, but I couldn't seem to find it any stores.

MUST Have:

Wind Waker
Eternal Darkness (really cheap now, no reason not go get it)
F-Zero GX (also really cheap now, I think. A must-have)
Smash Bros. Melee
Viewtiful Joe
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
Metroid Prime

Others:

You might also give Animal Crossing a go-round. It wasn't my thing at all, but its pretty popular with alot of people.

Mario Sunshine is good if you can find it used or something for 20 bucks. It's far from bad.

Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes is good if your not Metal Gear'ed out by now. Rent it for the cinemas at least

Ikaruga is good if your into old-school challenge. I thought I was, but it appears I'm not. This thing kicked my ass in all kinds interesting new ways.

What?! $70?! Is it just on sale or something? How come I didn't know about this. I've been waiting to get a Cube for a long time now, but just didn't have the cash. I almost tried to get one from Wal-Mart back at Christmas time when they had them on sale that one day, but I just didn't have the patience to go to Wal-Mart for it. But Target I can handle. The target around here is waaaay better than Wal-Mart.

Why do you need to have "patience" just to go to Wal-Mart? I know its a bad store in general, but it's hardly a big deal to just go in, get your system, and pay.

Though for all I know your nearest WM is a 2 hour drive, or some equally valid reason.

Don't get Smash Bros. unless you play multiplayer a lot. If not, pass on it. It gets old extremely fast.

Five games?

Viewtiful Joe - One of my favorite games of all time. Bringing life back to the side-scrolling genre.

Mario Kart: Double Dash!! - All out fun here. Great multiplayer, great single player once again it excels in the multiplayer department, but if you're not big on multiplayer it's still worth the purchase in my opinion.

Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - Just as good as any other Zelda game. Many games are turned off by the cell shading, but once you play the game it's really something worth witnessing. The use of detail is amazing

Metroid Prime - Great first person shooter. Lots of action, pretty difficult at times so you won't be blowing through this game in a few days.

Star Wars Rogue Squadron: Rebel Strike - People have mixed opinions about this game, but personally I love it. The addition of ground missions was a great topping to the already great cake we have known as the Rogue Squadron series. Tons of vehicles to pilot, bonus levels, bonus ships, great game.

Well, Rebel Strike is going to be one of the five I will buy.

I'm considering Metroid Prime and Viewtiful Joe.

Still trying to decide on two others.

Don't "consider" Metroid Prime. Just buy it. It's really great and is now only $20.

As far as I know, the only ways to get the Zelda Collector's Disc now is to A) get a subscription to Nintendo Power or B) register your system and two selected games at nintendo.com.

C) Buy it at a used game store for $20 - $25.

Glad this thread caught my eye last night... I fired up Metroid Prime for the first time in a while and FINALLY beat that damned giant plant. Now I can move on!

I forgot about that option. Duh.

And, yeah, fuck that plant.

You can register to get it? Are you sure? After a glance on the page, I didn't see anything mentioned. Cause I'd do it.

Super Monkey Ball! , and on the off chance you know a few people with GBA's, Four Swords and Crystal Chronicles.

Yeah, I spoke too soon. All the Nintendo promos are over. The only place to get it now would be a pawn shop or EBay, I guess.

My reason for not going was because it was Christmas time. The Wal-Mart here is filled to the brim with more stupid people than normal then. I just didn't want to have to wait in a line of assholes and retards to get my system. Plus, I didn't really have the money at the time. I could've paid for it, but it would've hurt me later on.

What's the big deal with Animal Crossing?

I've never heard of it, but it seems to be the Second Coming of Gaming for most video game people that I know.
