Ok, wait, is THIS The Premiere Properties Draft?
Properties draft would be round 31. After all our directors and actors are drafted.
That makes little to no sense, but, whatever.

There are 30 rounds where we choose actors and directors ONLY. The properties draft will begin shortly thereafter.
10 more rounds?

Is this really necessary, given we lost a couple of studios?

I tried to fight this earlier in the draft, but there are still some people out there that need a few more picks. I myself added 5 new ones yesterday. If you don't need any more picks, then wave your turn. You don't have to pick anyone.

I suppose it all depends on how many actors you need.

i still need 8 more roles filled for 2 of my films.

adaptations have more characters perhaps.

if you don't want to draft any more actors or directors for yourself, don't.

this is an exercise in creativity, not a mandatory test. if you are not interested, I understand.

NOW improved and updated!

scrumble studios
Clint Eastwood ¥ Spike Jonze ¥ Andrew Stanton ¥ Alex Cox
Uma Thurman ¥ Nic Cage ¥ George Clooney ¥ Sir Ian McKellan ¥ Benicio Del Torro ¥ Jack Black ¥ Nicole Kidman ¥ Emilio Estevez ¥ Kurt Russell ¥ Shannyn Sossamon ¥ Catherine Keener ¥ John Malkovich ¥ Ving Rhames ¥ Brian Dennehey
I got this in my mail a few days ago. I have been emailing poopoodle to see if he would change his mind, with no response.

There are...alot of names in that list that interest me, I am not sure about everyone else. I would prefer someone take up his studio to redispersing his list but I will leave that up to the almighty poll in Round 22.

I have decided against my Guy Ritchie project. Is anyone interested in him for trade?

If there is anyone else that you are interested in, shoot me a PM. Ritchie is the only one currently on the block.

I don't even know who you have slated for the project. I was just curious if you were getting rid of everyone.

I'll pass on Ritchie.

I would love to raid Poopoodle's roster of talent.

I have a few plans for some of them.

Not gloating or anything Bialas but I think you need to make another pick.

No need to fight. They say Liam Neeson is big enough to share.

Indeed. Enough for the whole family

After watching the train wreck that is the Properties draft from the other site that I stole this from, I think some clarification will be necessary as to the rules of the Property draft.

And to spark some discussion about it as well.

The other site that I stole this idea from is drafting series individually.

ex.
They are drafting the Harry Potter series book by book
They are drafting Star Wars movie by movie.

I think that is a little harsh, but the reasoning for the books was that author have the habit of optioning out books on a book by book basis.

The example given was Anne Rice's adaptations. All done by (I think) different studios, if not at least different directors.

To avoid another poll, perhaps people would just speak their opinions on this here.

I am all for drafting properties (the entirity of the Wheel of Time series, not all eleventy million books that have been released)

oh, and by the way, fuck you.
I didn't even think he'd be slipping down to me.

BTW, did we lose jackinabox2 or is he just done picking until the properties draft?

I messaged jackinabox2, he said he is still in.

as for what strategy he is using...who knows.

Perhaps he is saving up picks to draft the entire cast of Saved By the Bell-The College Years in one fell swoop so no one can Deep 6 his plans.

My two cents: definitely draft series as a whole, an is one person gets all of the Star Wars universe. And I say this as someone who is not after the Star Wars universe, so fight amongst yourselves, gentlemen.
Agreed, you should definitely draft series as a whole.

Also, my David Lynch project's pretty much dead, so he's available for trade if anyone wants him.

I thought I would go ahead and start rules for the Projects. There are not necessarily written in stone, but I think it is important for us to have some ground rules, and an idea on how to go forward.

We need to decide how to use our talent
How often we can use our talent
how long projects are going to take to complete

I think we should go through 1 Year of movies, and then decide what should occur afterwards (whether that be a total re-draft, a re-distribution of X amount of alent or the end of the draft totally)

just some rough rules(suggestions requested):

Rules for Projects

1. We are going to work on a Season by Season rate. Meaning 4 Seasons (winter, spring, summer, fall) per year.

2. Movies are going to need X amount of Seasons to complete.

3. My suggestion is that Big budget movies, with special effects, location shoots, whatever else can cause a production to take along time to shoot are going to take 2 Seasons to complete. Dramatic films or films with less production will take 1 season to complete. Animated movies (I believe) take longer to produce and should take 3 season to complete.

4. During the production of these films, directors and main actors (those who see a significant amount of "screen time") are unable to be involved in other projects.

5. Supporting Actors are able to be involved with 2 productions at the same time, but only as supporting actors in each. This would include main actors involved in animated features. They may be the lead voice actor in an animated feature and a supporting actor in a "live action" film.

6. Cameo's can be done without limit.

7. For those people who are "borrowing" talents from one studio to use in films, make sure that that actor is not previously engaged in their home studio as to cause a conflict.

now that I have totally confused myself, any questions?

This should be interesting...to say the least.

I am interested in getting rid of Guy Ritchie. Would anyone object to me just dumping him back into the pool and picking somone else (not from a previously drafted list, of course) I am not interested in taking anyone from poopoodle's list for this.

also, agent_buckwald, if I people object, wanna trade Lynch for Ritchie, straight across?

I like the rules for continuing seasons. Only thing I'd change is maybe we can have five throwbacks/redrafts each season just so we can have some sort of a mini draft to keep things interesting. Other than that, you work with what you have. That'll make trading more active.
I knew I was forgeting someone when I was drafting this morning. Too late to remember Paul Giamatti now.

I've got no real problem with that, and I've managed to rearrange things and put Lynch on a different project so no deal there.

Rules for the Properties Draft

1. We are all drafting Properties for anything that has previously been released in any medium. Movies, Video Games, Songs, Theatre, Books, Comic Book strips, etc.

2. We are able to draft entire Series in lieu of drafting each individual release from said medium. Examples are: The Star Wars Universe, Anne Rice's 'Vampire" novels, Pink Floyd's The Wall, The Crucible, Heathcliff. If it is the continuation of a story, you can draft it all.

3. In the Properties draft, you may continue to draft Actors/Directors if you wish. You may draft 3 Actors/Directors instead of drafting properties.

4. The Properties Draft shall go 10 Rounds. If at any time you are done drafting, Just state as much in the Draft Thread after your final pick. I will remove you from the drafting threads that remain. If you wish to return to the draft, or decide you have something else to draft, feel free to make up your picks at any time.

~ADDED~

5. There will be a new draft order for the Properties draft. The draft will be randomized, as the first draft was.

6. Feel free to draft Writers, Cinematographers, Composers/Musicians. etc. Anyone that you can add the name to your project that will add something to your Project that you want to have, to market it more.

7. Each round you may draft 1 Project OR 3 Actors/Directors/Composers/Writers/ETC.
Any Questions or changes anyone has, please feel free to bring them up.
I added the option to draft Actors/Directors if anyone decides they need more.

"Make up" any picks that they have missed, they can make up at any time
Any picks after that, they will be returned to the draft [EDIT]in the same slot that they left in.

Also

5. There will be a new draft order for the Properties draft. The draft will be randomized, as the first draft was.

Any picks after that, they will be returned to the draft, but at the end of whichever round we are in. Kinda like getting in at the end of the line.

Of course that means for the round after, they will get first pick, but C'est la vie.
Ummm... no. Just put them back in their old spot. That is what I was referring to.

Bastard. You just had to find some way to make me draft Ethan Coen, didn't you?

So, let me get this straight, we potentially could draft up to 30 more actors if we want to? In effect, stockpiling for future seasons?

I was just biding my time...but I was always going to get my way. and yep, if you need 30 more actors, have atter. If you want to have a certain band write your soundtrack, take them. If you want a certain album to base your musical around, take it. Screenwriters too.

I know I will probably take a few extra actors when I am done taking Properties, and it allows people more options.

We are doing a properties draft before each season, aren't we? Seems a little much to try and plan out the entire year right now and it would be kind of dull to have further seasons if a draft wasn't involved.

My plan is to do 1 year(4 seasons) with the current actors that we drafted. Mostly that is my plan because I have multiple roles set up for my actors. Therefore people may want to draft completely for 1 years worth of projects.
