"Mary-Kate Olsen recently entered a treatment facility to seek professional help for a health-related issue," Michael Pagnotta, a spokesman for Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who turned 18 on June 13, said in a statement Tuesday. He did not specify what that health issue was.

Pagnotta added: "She is thankful for the encouragement and support of her friends and family who are with her every step of the way."

The sisters, who each boast an estimated net worth of $150 million and will enter New York University as freshmen in September, admitted in a PEOPLE cover story last month: "Being in the public eye, you're labeled that you have an eating disorder," said Ashley. "You have a drug addiction," said Mary-Kate.

Ashley, however, was quick to add: "We don't have problems! There's nothing to worry about."

Insisted Mary-Kate: "If I had a drug addiction, I would be in a thingy – like Promises, the Malibu (rehab) place. You don't see me there. So, like, come on. It's crazy."

At that age, too. It's a damn shame.

If I had $150 million, I'd skip out and please myself for the rest of my life. Which is probably why I don't have that kind of money.

Sarcasm aside, I'm actually not that amazed at all to find out that someone who's 18 and looks like they weigh about 5 ounces has an eating disorder. Was it the sickly way their collarbones stick out or their ribs showing that gave it away?

I think it's great that they are going to university to potentially enrich their minds & grow as people instead of engaging in non-stop hedonism. The world doesn't need more Paris Hiltons. Especially since the twins likely won't be choosing their majors based on job prospects but rather on what topics genuinely interest them. It's an ideal situation. Besides, university doesn't last forever. They have plenty of time to make asses of themselves later.

I'm an NYU alum so any digs at my school I take offense to.

And as much as I am a gossip lover, I don't wish harm on anyone. I think its pretty fucked up to say "hopefully they get X, Y, and Z."

That said, I hope Mary Kate gets the help she needs. Eating disorders are pretty serious becuase its not just physical, its mental.

One Chewer noted that the girls should get the AIDS and I stated that the AIDS may not be necessary in this case, since they are going to NYU and she seems to have some sort of eating disorder/depression.

I put the pieces together.

It is not to disrespect the fine institution of NYU.

You said that "I can't deny" that NYU has a lot of suicides. Yet no one stated that it doesn't. In fact, no stated anything about suicides at all.

Also, I don't see how AIDS and eating disorders are puzzle pieces for suicide. Even if they were, they still have nothing to do with the school.

Did Archangel Ninja just intimate that there is some sort of correlation between eating disorders and/or other debilitating diseases (such as the AIDS <get some now!>) and attending New York University?

I am not saying that the girl should get AIDS. The guy said she should get AIDS, and I said that if you intend for her to die, there are other means. Do you think I want her dead? No. Do you think that I want her to get AIDS? no. I just thought that if the girl is having psychological issues, NYU is a place that has a history of suicides.

or you can get all pissed and protect NYU because you are an alumni of the school. Which I understand.

It sounds like she means a drug-rehab as opposed to an eating-disorder rehab - which I didn't even know there WERE eating-disorder rehabs, mostly because I'm a pig who does indeed enjoy my cheeseburgers. But I just figured that eating disorders were treated in the psych ward of a regular hospital. Apparently, you learn something new from People.com every day.

That's really just very sad state of affairs.

It seems strange that people actually have these types of mental disorder. This obsession with thinness is absolutely ridiculous. People should learn that a proper balanced diet and exercise is the way to a healthy life.
