Did anyone else see this elitist piece of tripe? I konw that the last few years have not been kind to musicals, but there are only nine songs on the list from the last 13 years (1980 and later). There are nineteen in the 1960's alone. If the list were limited to musicals, I would understand it, but there have been some wonderful pop songs that should have made the lsit (Breakfast Club's "Don't you forget about me.") In fact, there are only two songs from the 1980's in the top 20, one of which was the love theme from "Titanic" and the other was "Unchained Melody" fron ghost (which is actually a song from a much earlier era).
I was also baffled by the fact that both "Sound of Music" and "West Side Story" netted three songs each, while "My Fair Lady" only got one, and "Fiddler on the Roof" didn't make it anywhere in the top 100.
Oh well. I just had to vent my frustration to someone who (might) care.
