Can a Playstation 2 controller be hooked up to a computer?

I have seen this product, but would that work with a PS2 controller, or just a regular PS1 controller? The reason I ask is because I have an arcade joystick for my PS2 and would like to hook it up for playing old arcade games on an emulator.

Oh, and I know emulators are a sore subject, but these are games that I can't find anywhere near my house (the only arcade is in a mall, and they only have the latest games and DDR machines). It's not like I'm trying to rip anyone off, I just want to play old games like AvP and Captain Commando with a joystick.

From the online manual thingy: "You can use the adapter with various PS and PS2 controllers, including the Sony standard game pad."

I cannot morally condone the useage of emulation if you're going to play something like E.T. the Extra Terrestrial. Because that game sucks.

Yes they can. I have one sitting on my desk as I type this, and it's used for playing my SNES and GBA games. It all depends on the Emulator that you use. As long as they are programmed to read controllers you should be okay.

But you need the adapter for the controller. If you have a "Fry's Electronics" near you, they sell them. They were the only place that I could find around my old house that sold them.

It's called a "X Series" PS2/PC adapter cord. It plugs into one of your USB ports and the other end is for your PS2 to plug in.

my friend has some for xbox controllers, i chose to get the one for my 64 controller, cause i dont use it anymore and because its the best controller ever!!
