The Countess becomes a Count....Vladislaus Dragiula Cosplay Progress

You all know that I've mentioned the Dracula costume I have been working on for Halloween. And I've finally taken photos on what I've completed. Now, I had to use my real hair to pull in a ponytail (Which is dark blonde and why I am going to get a dark brown wig later on), I found out my fake nail glue dried up (I had to use tape! ) and I did not do the boot tops or cape yet.

Photo 1-Well, so far, this jerk left a nasty message in my blog saying that the costume was great, but insulted how I looked...A. It's Vampyr makeup, you idiot and B. You're a little chode. Which is probably what I'm saying with this expression.

Photo 2-I look TERRIBLE in that one! Well, there is the fact it's quite warm down in IL. And WHOOPS! My reflection showed up!

Photo 3-I noticed it's the same pose as this-

What are the odds?

Photos 4 & 5-Me & little Drac! -Giggle-

Photo 6-What do you think?

Countess - never change.

Actually, clearly a lot of work has gone into that, and it does look good. I dressed up for a Ren faire once and you know, kidding aside, I did have a great time.

And if you want a tip, use your own hair and not the wig. The colour sets off the black and gold nicely.

I like it. It really looks good.

Thank you.

But I think the only part of my own hair is going to be the bottom covering up the exposed netting when it's done.

Anna, those are great. Damn, I wish I had one ounce of the patience it took to make that.

To be honest, I'm dreading making the cape because I'm not sure if I can get the thistle design right...

What you need to do is set up your camera on a tripod and snap a picture of yourself standing near the mirror (perhaps even leaning against the mirror) in such a way that your reflection is really obvious. Then, without moving the camera at all (that's why you need the tripod), snap a second picture without you standing there. After that, it's just a simple cut&paste job in a photo editing program to switch the two mirrors so that you end up with a picture of yourself standing next to a mirror without a reflection even though it's at an angle where there should definitely be one.

Oooohh...that DOES sound cool....I just wish I had a good imaging system on my computer....

Nice one Anna

The costume is well done.

I find it amusing that you are far more intimidating in it than Richard was in the movie however.

Hmmm...if you want "Less intimidating" from him, watch "Moulin Rouge!"...he kinda reminds me of a ferret....

UPDATE! Yesterday, I took some photos of the whole costume, yet the wig won't be done until next month. The photos will probably be developed next week, and I'll post them ASAP.

I see sunlight in that last pic, daywalker
post #14 of 53
Can't wait to see your finished pics Now all you need is a full roster of parties to hit in that outfit!

I wish I had the patience and skills to make my own costumes (not to mention the TIME), I'm sick of spending tons of cash or Frankensteining my outfits, I plan on getting a dress form SOON to make things easier and prompt me to do things on my own.

Well, Dracula wasn't affected by sunlight in the movie...

But yeah, I'm usually hanging at the fabric store, looking for things I can adapt, and I always try to grab something for a future project. What really makes me laugh, though, is when they get lookalike models to pose for the photos, like this guy posing as Hugh Jackman-

And yes, I did pick that up for a future cosplay.

Damn, he may not look like Mr. Jackman but he damn sure wouldn't be kicked out of bed either. LOL

Lorenzo Llamas IS Van Helsing in Van Helsing II: The VanHelsining!"

Ironically, when Hugh had those hair extensions in, his wife thought he looked so much like Lorenzo and she LOVED it because she had a crush on him after working with him on "Falcon Crest" in the late '80s.
Haha, that's funny!

And cool pictures

Here it is at 90%. The thing is, I got everything done yesterday and dressed up, yet my dad didn't want to take any pictures because he was lazy. Hopefully sometime I can get the completed ones up...but these will have to do for now.

The mantle is not as long as it should be-

But, it'll do. It was really quite hard to put the trim on there and do the thistle design.

Second one, I am not putting on here. Probably because I look either like Renee Zelweger after a binge or Lindy English in those infamous photos. "The stoned Peppermint Patty look? All Lindy."

This one is undoubtedly my favorite, though-

I also got an invite to join a cosplay group because of this...I'm hoping I can join them at Otakon next year.
Very cool stuff That jacket looks great! I am shamed every year into buying something (pooh), this year will be the same >_<

But my costume this year, I think, will still be damn cool - Johnny will be frikkin ultra tasty, provided we get the correct props...
sorry.. i just popped in cuz this thread was bumped to the top..

just one piece of advice.. turn the flash off on that camera of yours.

My mom took it...and to be honest, she takes lousy photos sometimes...

But I will ask her not to use the flash next time.

BTW, what are you and your hubby going as, girlcreeture?
The flash isn't that bad actually, kinda need it to capture details.

Johnny and I aren't doing a couple costume. I'm not allowed to divulge his costume, but I'm going as Assassin Kitsune from Hell (still debating red contacts). That is kimono clad fox woman complete with teeth, claws, weapons, etc.

Should be fun!

Ooo...anime FoxGirl....me like.

Now, it is finished.

The entire costume, plus the wig I restyled.

The obligatory Bishônen pose. I need either some gals dressed as the brides or a guy dressed as Velkan in ripped clothes. That would be hot. (You can tell I had to cover up the red-eye in that photo...I'm actually blue-eyed.) I hope to see what other people think on Halloween...

Holy shit.

You guys are welcome. haha

One year LATER.

Opps. I was looking at Anna's join date.

Goddamnit.

What happened to all these people? Why did they leave?
Countess Anna had to share her love of Van Helsing with the world.
She's been missing for about 4 years as a result.

If only Fleed could show the same kind of commitment for GI Joe.

Probably suicide, if I had to guess.

Suicide if we're lucky. Imagine it breeding.
Real answer- Creature Corner fell apart after the old staff left it. Most everyone followed them to The Horror Channel, till that went screwy too.
So...Bloody-Disgusting, now?
I followed over there for a bit.

Anyone notice that, until the resurrection, there wasn't a single negative or mocking post in this thread?

In this thread, no. There were plenty of other threads though.......

It's all in jest, Dickson. I will give Anna this. When she posted, she was enthusiastic about what she was talking about.

It sure beat the various posts that read like Tweets or Me Too comments.

Well Rotten and Butane went to Dread Central after THC fucked up big time (they still haven't really gotten their fucking channel started, and their twitter page declares it to be "The orinigal Horror Channel!") and most the fans went there. Then Rotten went to Fango and then Shock Till You Drop and who knows where everyone is now.

Anna never killed anyone. She just loved Van Helsing a little too much.

Sorry to offend. I'll take my blatant derision for the endlessly creepy cosplay movement elsewhere.
