X-Box in Progressive Scan

Just joined the X-Box club. Finally.

Here's my dilemma: My 65 in. HDTV ready TV has two component ports, already being used for DVD and HDTV cable.

Any of you X-Box players got yours hooked up through the component connection? I've heard it looks really good, but would like some feedback.

Any advice would be nice as I am going to have to buy a component connection switch, and the cables, which is gonna cost me about another $100 (and that's for a cheap switch box).

Thanks in advance.

Also a new xbox owner, and I know for sure that Xbox games in progressive scan look gorgeous. It is mind blowing on some of the AAA titles e.g. Splinter Cell: PT. I am looking forward to playing the new slew of football games in progressive scan.

Short answer, buy the switch box now. you wont regret it.

I had the same problem, just fork over the cash for the JVC Component video switcher. Well worth it IMHO. It's not remote controlled though so if you need that then buy http://www.audioauthority.com/aacconsumers/1154c.html since it auto-switches, but it's a bit more money, but a mucher higher quality piece.

I have my PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, HD-Cable box and DVD all hooked up component, could never go back.

You convinced me. I just ordered this one for $169. ($200 with tax and shipping). It will help out with all my Hi-Def components.

Looking forward to X-Box in full progressive glory.

Thanks for the help, guys.

Good purchase. My friend has that same switcher and it works wonders.

Welcome to paradise.

Agreed, you'll enjoy it! No more compromising quality!

Unbelievable!

Connected my HD switcher last night. You all were right. It was worth it. The picture is probably 100x better looking now.

Thank you all for your help.

Ooooo... burn.

Nice one.

Sooooo, if you have a job you can automatically afford a high-definition television and a $200 switch box?

Man, have I learmed my lesson!

You called them rich bastards. If he's rich, it's possible he's got a high paying job to pay for things like this. I do understand both your points, though.

Topic related: I have component cables for my Xbox, but never use them since I only have one input and I use it for my DVD player most of the time.

Well, it was pretty much just a joke. If Dix wants to brag about his high-end tv and his high-paying job he has every right to.

High-end TV's can still be had for just over a grand these days. Not exactly rich-man land.

My home theater is pretty sweet and I'm no where near rich.

Oh, of course. Thought the sarcasm had turned over to anger there for a second.

Let's see:

" Screw all you rich bastards."

Angry response.

"<knock knock>"

Usually the opening line of a joke.

I was trying to add some humor to a pretty negative response to my post. I am far from rich, have a wife and two kids, BUT I just refi'd my home and have come into a little bit of cash. So, I treated myself to a switcher. Believe me, I had some serious buyer's remorse when it hit me that I spent more for the switcher than I did for my X-box. Then I saw my wife's credit card bill.

C'mon, Singer. You've been around a while. I'm sure there are some things you spend your money on that other's might think is excessive.

It was a joke. Red frowny face should have been the tipoff. I have a 53" tv myself, just not hi-def.

I just wasn't too sure about the "job" comment. It's all cool.

Understandable. I hadn't looked at your profile, so it sounded like it may have been a reply a youngster would have made.

Actually, that's how the vast majority of my posts sound...

I'm about as poor as a college student can be, (not poor in the most literal sense, but you know, no disposable income) and I also have a HiDef TV. I am still paying it off too. Every month. But lordy was it worth the debt.
