Disgrace This Town - Makarewicz/Nunziata/Murphy

You think you've staked your claim
I've got me something else to say
Who you plowing on my world
You want it but I need it
First step's the kindest one
Then I start to have some fun
Got yourself a gold parachute

Garden gnomes will tear you down
Clean tear you down
Disgrace this town
You can't wage war without metaphors

Silk suits unravel fast
Name brand shoved up your ass
A plot of land ain't a spreadsheet plan
Let's fight, see your pen's might
First cut's the one that breaks the skin
then I start digging in
Got your yourself a gold parachute

Garden gnomes will tear you down
Clean tear you down
Disgrace this town
You can't wage war without metaphors

You say you've got a war for everything, well I was wrong
'cause all I can think about is how I'm living and how I'm giving

Ain't no use for waging war

Guitar, Bass - John
Vocals, Keys - Nick
Drums, Guitar, Backing Vocals - Steve

Story behind this one?

Vocals are good.

Guitar work is better.

A song like this, vocals are secondary. I recorded about 30 takes for this and the more aggressive it got, the less I liked it. Instead I just felt that the music was raw and funky and driving enough to let the voice stuff be there but not central. John rocked on this, a song we recorded well over a year ago and I'm just now getting ready. Of course, if the mood's not there you don't do it.

I love this tune now. It was fun to do some Max Rebo keys stuff again too.

Thanks for the feedback.

Got to this one off today's Steady Leak. Been reading for a while, but this is the first time I got curious enough to try and grab a Nightsticks choon, so bear with me.

First off - love the riff. Sharp stuff with just the right amount of 70's funk vibe going on in the background. The 'YEAAAAHs' in the bridges are cool. Less fond of the keys - they feel a little out of place in what'd otherwise be a straight rockin' number. Outro is gold.

I liked it. Definately gonna look into your other stuff now.
