Rock the Vote

After more than 21 years on this earth, I've finally found something worth fighting for, a cause to get behind, someone to convince people to cast their vote for. No, his name isn't Kerry or Bush ... it's Abreu. Bobby Abreu.

You see, Bobby Abreu is an All-Star. He just is, and there's nothing you can ever say or do to convince me otherwise. The only problem is that, unless Abreu wins the "Final Vote" contest on MLB.com for the 32nd and final spot on the National League All-Star team, he will have played nine seasons in the major leagues without being chosen to a single All-Star team.

I know what you're saying ... How can someone be an All-Star without being on an All-Star team? If you don't know the answer to that question, you've obviously never looked at Abreu's career.

2004 All-Star Final Vote - You have the final say.

The NL already has 6 outfielders. Do they really need a 7th? Vote ARAM at 3rd base.

The only difference between Aramis Ramirez, and Bobby Abreu is, Bobby Abreu should be starting. Think of it as addressing a miscarriage of justice.

[Edit: And on second thought, the Cubs already have two players on the team that shouldn't be ahead of him, does there really need to be another Cub on the team. ]

Vote for Big Frank while you're at it.

Bobby definitely deserves to be on the team. He's not the most clutch player on the team, but he's a great, consistent player.

Monk- Alou deserves a spot just as much as Abreu. He carried the Cubs when Sosa, Wood, and Prior were out and kept them in the playoff hunt leading the wild card race. He's had 2 walk off HR's I can think of and almost always gets a clutch hit when they need it. Sosa doesn't deseve it because he missed too much time.

I blame Astro fans who stiffed the ballot for all their playes. How does Biggio garner 1 all star vote? Or Ensberg. Very sad on their part.

And Judd if you want another all star on the team pull for the one that deserves it-Konerko. There is no DH in the NL so Thomas is useless and doesn't deserve it anyway. Blame Yankee love w/ all the dopes voting Giambi in. Don't waste your vote on Thomas.

Why is Melvin Mora on the final spot list? He's only 2nd in the AL in hitting, 60 runs scored, 12 HR. But that put Matsui on the final vote. Gimme a break.

I agree that Moises Alou deserves a spot, but as good as Alou's been, Abreu's been better in just about every fathomable category.

I've been out of touch for a couple days, so I had no idea Abreu wasn't on the team. What a joke. And he's so much better than Alou in that besides being a great hitter, he's also very good in the field and steals bases. But if you want to just talk hitting, Abreu also has a higher average, more RBI's, more runs scored, and an OPS about 200 points higher than Alou. Alou has more home runs, but they both hit home runs once every 16.4 at bats, so they have equal power numbers.

Yeah, well, when Alou makes a simple play in left field, the faithful yell Aloooooooooooou, and it sounds like Boo. BUT IT'S NOT!!! It's a sign of affection, and it's cute.

You don't hear them yelling Abreuuuuuuuuuuuu.... nope. Not once. Not ever.

One thing I will give to Alou - he can fit more Skoal in his bottom lip than Abreu could chew in a week.
you 2 are so sad. You care way too much about the Cubs. It's must be a sickness of Sox fans.

In defense of Alou the players voted him in. They didn't vote Abreu in. His stats are great and deserving of a bid but Alou carried the Cubs.

I'm just glad Adam Dunn isn't part of the final 5. he may have 24 HR's but his other stats are shit and he's a butcher in the outfield.

Why is Barry Larkin on the team?

Care too much about the Cubs? Just because I could actually point out how you're completely off base here doesn't mean I give a shit about the Cubs. And you're the one who brought him up, genius. If you actually knew anything outside of the Cubs, you wouldn't have.

Read much? Monk brought it up. I'm pretty sure he felt Zambrano deserved the All Star bid(unlike Loiaza)

I agreed with him on Sosa but said Alou deserved it.

So how am I off base that Alou deserves to be an All Star? The NL players, coaches and managers agree with ME that Alou deserves it. I'll take what they have to say over you.

Obviously, because MLB and coaches said so.

hey Boomy guess what. You are WRONG!!! Larkin was chosen by Jack McKeon, in conjunction with Major League Baseball(bud selig) not ALL the players and managers and coaches. They chose Jack Wilson of Pittsburg(whom I think should start).

So if you want to prove me wrong you might want to know what you are talking about. Nice try with the quotes thing. It may have worked but you were lazy and didn't check the list and why they got on for yourself.

Barry Larkin I'm guessing got on cuz he's old, having a decent season, and they want to honor him. Kinda like when baseball wanted to get Clemens on his final all star game.

So Major League Baseball is no longer part of the MLB. WHAT HAPPENS NOW?

It has nothing to do with his 10-2 record and 2.54 era. He sucks because he's not a Cub, and I think that its a sham that it's in Houston this year. The allstar game should only be played at Wrigley because we are the best fans of the 2004 world champions.
Close, but I don't think I added enough spelling errors to be realistic.

How big of you to admit when you are wrong Boomy and Gutty.
Abreu and Aramis are deadlocked, it seems. Phils are pushing hard to get people to vote.

Man, I hope he gets in this year, because he's put up better numbers than all but one NL outfielder. If he can't get in this year, I don't think he ever will.
