Danzig was at one point SIGNED. I know this because some guy told me so while we were sitting on his tour bus one night. His name was Glenn Danzig.

This was long enough ago that Verotik was still in full-swing. Long enough ago that Hart Fackin' Fisher was at the helm (Glenn put me in contact with him because he likeded my drawerings). And it was long enough ago that Richard Donner was directing X-Men, and the script sucked. Storm and Wolvie actually hooked up in it.

In the end, the X-Men's tortured journey to the screen was what kept it from happening.

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. No big. I do know that in its current incarnation, once Singer was brought in to helm, Danzig was not in the running. At that point, they offered the role to Russell Crowe, who turned it down due to the fact that he felt it was too similar to his character in LA CONFIDENTIAL. Gary Sinise turned it down as well. Dougray Scott accepted, then backed out to do MISSON IMPOSSIBLE 2.

In any case, it's a damn fine thing that he didn't play Wolverine. Judging from danzig's miniscule acting chops in that abysmal PROPHECY movie, I somehow don't think he would've done the character any real justice.

I don't listen to the music, and I don't care who owns what or why he got hit or even if he was going to be Captain America. I just think it's funny shit...all this banter and hard feelings over things that didn't happen to you, things said by people who you don't know, living in places you may never have been.

Glen put out a couple issues of DevilMan, but the whole thing was a nightmare. I was the managing editor then and we were only given shitty dupes of the printers films in Japan to print from. Coloring them was a bitch and the whole book flopped. In fact, the whole company was a huge gamble that lost. Verotik peeked in under my watch, but after that sales went down, down, down, as they did for the entire industry. Glen threw more good money after bad, but there was nothing to do in comics land. After the mess of the Verotika #4 and my co-authored story, "A Taste of Cherry", leading to the Planet Comics bust in Oklahoma (a judge put some comic shop owners in jail for selling the books to adults and banned the book), it was all over. Don't expect any Devil man properties to come out, in fact, I was told there was some kind of lawsuit between Nagai and Vertik but I don't know if that's true.

As for the parties, I was at the second one, and yep, it was a fucking blast. Stippers, live porno, my buddy Dimitri whipping the shit out of one of the bit titted ho's with a riding crop, stuffing hundred dollar bills in her mouth, yep, that's a good time. And at the end of the party Glen punched out a drunk.

So it was amusing to see this video. No matter what kind of a bad ass you think you are, someone out there has your number.

Now if you want to see more of real life clocking, go to your local comic store and pick up a copy of Flowers on the Razorwire (shameless plug). In Flowers, blind comic book publisher Joseph Monks plays a sighted guy who gets tortured by a psycho dominitrix played by adult film star Wanda Curtis. What's funny, is there's no way for a blind guy to fake getting slapped, so we had her slap the shit out of him for real. Take after take after take.
