Top Five Court Room Movies

Sitting here watching A Few Good Men and just got to wandering about it. I'm not even sure if I've seen five, but for now, I'd say my favorite is JFK. #2 would probably be Twelve Angry Men.

The Insider has the most powerful courtroom scene. When Bruce McGill told Wings Hauser to wipe that smirk off his face, the audience gasped collectively.

The Runaway Jury with Gene Hackman and Jon Cusak is quite good. It's amazing what the lawyers do with the jury and all the research they do.

I forgot To Kill A Mockingbird and My Cousin Vinny. These are probably my third and fourth favorites respectively.

A Time to Kill.

A Passage to India
Witness For The Prosecution
Inherit The Wind
M
and of course, Rashomon.

The Untouchables has a good dramatic courtroom scene, as does Notorious!, but I think those films I've mentioned are really centered around a 'trial'/courtroom in the general sense of the word.

Air Bud Goes To Law School... oh wait...

12 Angry Men
A Few Good Men
My Cousin Vinny
To Kill A Mockingbird
A Time To Kill (though, IMO, Matthew McConau****'s closing argument was weak)

I'd really want to put two other movies on this list... Legally Blonde and Airplane II, only because the courtroom stuff is a minor part of hte movie. But the courtroom scenes are great.

"Doctor, can you give the Court your impression of Mr. Striker?"
"I'm sorry. I don't do impressions. My training is in psychiatry. "

"Yes they deserved to die, and I hope they burn in Haayyull!"

Isn't 12 Angry Men a "jury room" movie? Still, it probably belongs as related to the process.

I'll bring up

Anatomy of a Murder
The Verdict
To Kill a Mockingbird
and M

along with 12 Angry Men.

Others that I thought of, Presumed Innocent, The Caine Mutiny, Paths of Glory, and Rashomon.

I guess my list would be:

To Kill A Mockingbird
Paths of Glory
Inherit The Wind
Primal Fear
And Justice For All

Primal Fear seems to have sort of faded into the woodwork over time, which is too damn bad. And And Justice For All is less a "courtroom" movie than it is a movie about the legal system in general, but it's too good to pass up if you ask me.

Ok, more scene than movie, but TANGO & CASH.

Quote:
'Detective Cash assaulted me. He put a chair on my head and sat on it.'

'I couldn't find a piano.'

There are many great courtroom films. "JFK" is a favorite, and many of the classics. "INsider" does have a very good and unique scene as well.

"Presumed Innocent" is perhaps my favorite courtroom thriller.

Some lesser knowns would be "A Civil Action" and the very underrated Coppola film "The Rainmaker".

Good call with The Rainmaker. I HAD forgotten about that, and it's a damn good movie.
