For THE RISING fans

Thread Starter
Learned from Brian Keene this week that his novel THE RISING has been optioned. Can't disclose who grabbed the rights yet (Brian has been asked to wait on an announcement until the press release hits in Variety) but more news should be forthcoming in the near future.

Kick ass, thanks for the new, Joe!

Who would you cast in a Rising movie?

Great news, definitely one of the better horror books of the last 10 years and an original take on zombies.

That's great news! Loved the book. Uwe Boll anyone?

Now that McG is freed up from SUPERMAN , he might be up for this. Although ideally I'd like to see Ridley Scott directing, and I'd rewrite it to make the military the good guys as opposed to that "military is evil" cliche hippie crap.

This will never get made. At least, not in any way that will resemble its source.

Who would I cast in The Rising?

Stephen Dorff
Robert Forster
Fred Ward
R. Lee Ermey
Ossie Davis
Anne Heche
Matthew Lillard
Ron Eldard
Tony Shaloub
Linda Hamilton
Milla Jovovich
Penelope Ann Miller
Angela Bassett
Bridget Fonda
and the Voice of James Earl Jones

It would be the sexiest movie ever made.

I would be excited because the books excellent, but as we know, optioned is a far cry
from being made. I only get excited about films these days when a filming date and cast and director
is locked. Look how many false starts X Men and AVP had and it took roughly ten years for them
to get made. So I hope it happens, Brian's a nice guy and it's a hell of a book, but I'm takingg
it with a grain of salt.

Anyone who likes this book will like the game dead rush (www.deadrush.com). awesome looking
game.

Suddenly I've been blessed/cursed with the vision of Tom Hanks and Gary Sinise reprising their roles from Forrest Gump... Lt. Dan holding up a sign, "Shoot undead in the head, Forrest!"

Just wanted to second this. I just finished an interview with Brian Keene for Hells Library where he discussed it and then asked me to "take it out of the interview so not to jinx him"

I am looking forward to this for sure!

Great news, I can't wait for this movie, should it ever get made.

Now...where's my movie of Skipp and Spector's The Bridge?
Just finished the book myself and though I'd love to see it as a film, now is not the day and age where something like this could be made, me thinks. All the zombie kids attacking the convoy? Never going to happen. The zombie babies speaking in tounges? No, no. But if someone could make the film and keep the feel of the book it'd be brilliant. A big budget would be needed, as well...

All you need is Lance Henriksen and the Chin, and you're in character actor heaven!
