Did I miss the boat on this? I just picked it up at BB, mostly because one of the filmmakers is from Lawrence, KS. Was I smart to buy this?

I almost picked it up the other day, but decided to go with the Larry Cohen collection from Blue Underground instead....now was THAT a smart move or not?

The DVD is great inspiration for all who want to make movies.....The shorts collected on this dvd just didn't do much for me other than inspire myself and my buddy to get our shit together and make a short film. Because if these were the best Fangoria got, then we don't have much competition.....I'm not saying they were all bad, there are a couple of the shorts that are ok, and relatively well shot, but nothing special. Then there are a few that are absolutely terrible. I will give all the filmakers on the dvd credit, for getting something done and getting exposure.

I had the same question in my mind as I was paying for this one.

Good interviews with Stan Winston and Clive Barker. Bad short films. Kinda a toss up.

However The Larry Cohen Collection is love...

Keep in mind, I don't think Fango was paying out any money for the shorts. They chose the best from people who just want exposure, not cash. And there was a 13 minute time cap.

I haven't found it in stores yet -- although I haven't checked Circuit City or Best Buy yet.

Best Buy has them by the fistful. It was yet another cult title they bought in bulk and made an ad sale out of that no one gave a shit about.

I have not seen it, so I cannot say for certain, but every review I've read has said it's basically crap. Ah well. The problem was they didn't ask for existing shorts, they wanted brand-new ones. When we put ours together we took whatever was already out there, and with no time caps. That's why, I think, it's going to be a lot better.

The latest update on The Nightmare Collection (from yesterday) is over on the official site, but the short story is it should be ready to order by the end of the month. Cross your fingers...

Good, good news. I'm dying to see Bill "Splat" Johnson's "Don't worry it's only your imagination."

I got this at best buy and it is gong show type dreck at best. I'd trade it at amoeba but feel that wouldn't be fair to the next man, so I might just throw it away instead

Rented it at Blockbuster yesterday and I thought it was fairly decent for what it was, fans wanting to try their hand at making a movie. If you watch it expecting LOTR, you'll be sorely disappointed, the story quality on most isn't even up to Van Helsing standard but a couple had some serious potential and one was outright hilarious.

Not just you, but what's with all the comparisons to Van Helsing? Can't we go back to comparing things to Resident Evil or House Of The Dead. Let's be consistent.

Just seems that VH has become everyone's whipping boy lately. I, personally, thought it was pretty entertaining.
